That sounds good; in that case may be the better choice if they let solo drivers run it, unless he's willing to run teams.

Yeah I wish I could get east-west runs all the time, that'd be nice for the miles for sure. The $56,000-60,000 sounds good to me. I just really hope it's true. I know I've heard that there are now other, larger carriers pulling some of there loads and bidding very low. I do wonder what that means in terms of Tyson's drivers miles. But, they still seem to be one of the better companies out there.
mje Thanks this. -
Pride is great if you like sitting in your truck in West Valley City. If you're lucky their best driver will quit and little Jeffy England will come out of his office and throw a fit in the lot like a 5 year old for your entertainment.mje Thanks this.

before i retired was making 38 cpm new drivers were gouging me about that, but i also received $5000.00 profit sharing check,$1500.00 bonus check, 401K match, 10 paid holidays, vacation pay,and health insurance paid. oh yeah 1 cmp for safety. so pay can be a tricky thing in trucking its not all in the cpm. i would look at tyson pretty hard,to me i always thought it was better to work for a company that hauls there own product. lots of luck

Pride has long runs and miles and that's what everyone loves about it. It's got it's down side too. Like being pushed to run hard, lack of hometime, and strict rules about going through inbound, outbound, and the truck was EVERYTIME YOU GO THROUGH THE YARD.mje Thanks this.

KLLM hauls a lot of Tyson loads; I think have some kind of logistics contract with Tyson. I'm guessing here, but I doubt if Tyson trucks have long waits picking up or delivering at Tyson plants. They probably dump those long waits on KLLM.
Worse comes to worse, just flip a coin and try one company for a year then move to the other and try it for a year.mje Thanks this. -
Thanks guys, yeah I've definitely heard that hauling your own product is the way to go. Perhaps with summer on the horizon that could be a great time to haul meat with cookouts and vacations and such. As long as I can get the miles I'm happy.
mje Thanks this. -
Yeah the downside of that is KLLM though.mje Thanks this.

Exactly. I understand the business decision behind that, but it may not be a great thing for the Tyson drivers.
mje Thanks this. -
I drive for Tyson. Been there 3 years. Best company I ever worked for. On the average good miles, good benefits, and good equipment.
fling-wing and mje Thank this.
