You are correct; it's for all miles driven. And the teaming is only for 4 weeks, fortunately. The year commitment is solo.
Is this a good deal?

There are tons of small companies north of salt lake to tremonton.
flatbed and reefer. twamcor does flat. Kingston does reefer. bunch more I can't think of off the top of my head at the moment.
usually they just want you to drive. no commitment or refresher courses.Tonythetruckerdude Thanks this. -

Those are both bad choices. Keep looking, a lot of companies will take you with out charging you for "training". Call Gordon, they used to take rookies. Also call central oregon trucking, they are flatbeds but at one time they were thinking of training.

Tony after a few months out of driving. Most companies want a refresher course. That is what he is doing. He also probably only drove 2 or 3 months with a trainer when he first started driving anyway. I don't think he ever got a local job when he finished training. I don't think its too bad of a deal, and like most companies if you quit. They will make payment arrangements for you to pay the money back. I don't think he has many options. I'd stick with the local carrier at least you will get by the house often.

I agree that there is no reason for you to be force into more training if you have a CDL and can drive a truck. Where I disagree is with your choice between those two companies. There are lots of advantages with starting with a company that is going to make you do a lot of backing. You will most likely be in a day cab and will be making multiple stops per day. Your backing skills are what you need work with. Once you have that you will be a much more employable driver. Driving as a team is harder then it sounds. You do not sleep well and you are twice as likely to get into an accident. Your driving mistakes and his driving mistakes both can kill you.
If the two are you only choices do the LTL first. But they are not your only choices. Look around some more. Send a note to Chinatown and get his help. When he is not distracted by women, he is a very good resource. -

I came out of retirement for a bit earlier in the fall to help a friend out....but he owned his trucks ( logging outfit) , and didn't expect me to do anything but make sure that my license was still valid and my medical certification was OK....
