don't "intend" on it. It's not that big of a deal. Study the info...take the practice tests online until you are getting 100% consistently...take the real test and then get the background check started...you should have it on your license within a month.

No. In tx anyway I dont see why it would be different. Once you pass the test they give you a number to schedule the appt. I had my endorsement 8 days later. Ev87. Memorize the numbers/classifications the rest is pretyy much common sense

 

That's interesting. In NV we have to pass the background before we're even allowed to take the test at the DMV. Seems like every state has it's own protocol.

 

Well if I was to move there I would have to retake everything nevada is weird. So I believe what u say about them

 

In Texas, you have to pay 11$. You then take the test, pass it and they give you a "fast pass". You then call the fingerprint place and schedule an appt. That was the biggest wait for me. Took me two weeks to get in to get the fingerprints done here in San Antonio. Cost 72$. Didn't get my hazmat in the mail for almost 4 1/2 weeks. Read the book. That was how I passed.

 

Technically any time you switch states on /with your CDL you must redo the HazMat...that's why I just kept my NV license and address...I'm a dual/temp TX resident.

 

Interesting.... I'm a NV resident living in Las Vegas now but I'm about to head to Midland/Odessa for work in a couple of weeks so I'd be VERY interested to see how you do this.

Do you need to do anything special with the DMV or your employer to have temp TX residence or do you just keep your Nevada address and license on all official documents/tax stuff?

 

Cmbks21 is correct. I'm in Texas, took my hazmat test this past Wednesday and did my fingerprinting on Friday. One would think you should be cleared first, but who knows.

 

Just a lil head's up, it took 3 months for the fingerprinting stuff to go through FBI and TSA.
So just make sure you give it plenty of 'ahead' time , most of the people that require hazmat will ask if you have your hardcopy.
