If a Landstar agent quotes you mileage, ask them if they are Landstar miles or real miles. If they say Landstar miles, add 10% to the miles and you should be close to actual.

I called CS because I wanted to know what route I was supposed to take. Which route they projected the supposed miles. They are not supposed to route on toll roads. What else is there if not route 30? Running route 30 has been the choice of drivers who refuse to pay the toll for years. I am not paying tolls! If you want to that's your choice. If I run a toll road, the customer will pay it not me, or I don't take the freight. I have not run the road with my own truck before. I was doing intermodal, and I need to learn a lot. You will probably run a lot of DH miles. I will sit and be patient. Thanks for your help and advice.

I have a habit of jumping at something to quickly, and assuming things.
If I don't stop doing that, I most likely won't make it out here.
I need to develop principles and habits. I learn a thing, and then wam! Mileage! Been shorted miles lots of times. We all have. That's the biggest complaint in the industry. But never 200 miles. LOL
There's a lot to becoming a seasoned road driver.

You took a load with 4 stops? Why? That's 8 hours without working and screws up days. You didn't google the miles, beforehand?

You have 18 years of experience and took that load, with stops?

Basically, we need $3.00 a mile to make money. That's how I book us. We have a flatbed and haul OD loads. My fave loads pay $3.51 and legal. I book 2-3 like that and an OD load. When needed, I book a $2-$2.50 load.

Our current load is paying over $6 a mile.

Your right! What a crappy load that was. I generally like multiple stops because it breaks up the miles and I get some exercise. It seems that there are a lot of those loads in my area and they are looking for dedicated drivers. Good luck with that. I got a decent load coming back.
One shot pays more then the 4 stopper did, and I got one of those loads out of Manhattan to do next at the car Show paying the rate you bragged about. I won't be doing anymore of the multi stop loads. There must be a lot of drivers doing them, because there are lots of them out there. You see a decent rate and check the details and it's got 2 to 5 stops on it.

 

They are out there because nobody wants to do them. They are a hassle. One screw up and your delivery schedule is out the window and that costs you more time and money. Besides that they don't pay well to begin with.

 

So many Cabinet loads coming out of VA, agents call me 3 times a week to sway me into to doing those loads. I drive a W9 so most of the time those loads go into limited spaced areas and that just doesn't work out for me. I will say some pay well tho.

 

Well yeah, I drive a W900 too, only an idiot would drive anything else. There is usually enough decent 1 pick and 1 stop stuff that I never even consider multiple stop crap.
