Submit online applications, then follow up with phone call in 3 or 4 days. You will probably already have job offers before the phone call follow up starts.

You infer that you want to stay put in Mich., but is that a hard and fast situation? One idea is look nearby to Wisconsin, where sand is being mined for fracking operations nationwide. That sand requires bulk drivers. Just a thought. Also, once upon a time I worked for Airgas, formerly Linde. Don't know if other posters mentioned Airgas here, but they have welding shops all over including Mich. that require drivers to supply them. Having haz-mat would be required but could get you some pre-oilfield experience. Also, there is a pretty good directory here of oilfield companies, but most of these are in place like ND, TX, and OK. Still some of these cos. have branches scattered and maybe some have Mich. locations. Good luck.

Thanks for the list of companies that hire new new drivers. I have six months experience in dry van and I am also from Michigan.I have no knowledge of the tanker world. Could you please rank the afformentioned list? I know its subjective and it may be different from one person to another, but if a few people could chime in that know what they are talking about I would really appreciate it. Again the list was:

    Trimac Transportation
    SVTN
    Superior Carriers
    Air Gas
    Tidewater Transit
    CTL Transportation
    Schneider Bulk

    Thanks

Lots of high praise for Superior Carriers.
Schneider Bulk you can be a company driver or they will make you an 0/0.
Airgas would be my last choice because it's mostly local work and hourly pay.
All the others are good with good pay and benefits.
