Just started my own trucking company under LLC. How many drivers (Owner Operators) can I hire under a LLC trucking business legally to drive for me. Some say the legal limit is 12 drivers. But I have seen companies that have over 12 drivers.

You can hire as many employees or contractors (owner-operators) as you want. LLC, S-corp, sole proprietor, the type of business organization does not matter.

I will not be buying the trucks. Each new driver I hire will already have his own truck. But I just want to know how many drivers can I legally hire under LLC type trucking business without having to deal with any legal issues.

    Can you say attorney?

You need to have the structure reviewed and your agreements.

    In most cases not restricted.

Hes evidentally talking about hiring them as independent contractors. Yep he needs to talk to a lawyer.

He said he was hiring guys with trucks. He had better have liability issues examined.

If they have their own equipment, they would be considered independent contractors according to IRS and yes you are very correct about that. He needs to talk to a lawyer and so do the drivers.
