If there's any yet, I don't know. But releases have stated an intent to export the engine. Not to mention trucks aren't the only thing which use diesel engines... maritime vessels, construction and ag equipment, etc.

 

I believe the Cummins is 130 mm bore 163 mm stroke. Scania is 130 bore, but stroke is a bit shorter at 160 iirc.
Cummins 13.0 litre, Scania 12.7.
Scania has 6 individual heads, 1 for each cilinder. Cummins has single head for the engine.

As far as I know 2 completely different engines, except for some XPI fuel system hardware maybe?

Ginaf used the 13 litre Cummins in the 2014 Dakar rallye instead of C18 Cat in previous years.

 

My 2014 ISX had 56k miles on it when the head gasket blew. OOS for 23 days at Redding Freightliner.

 

Yes there is, cummins have been supplying engines to ERF for many years, crap trucks but a fantastic engine! Usually outlasted the truck, nowdays cummins are in Hyundai machines and they are a poor shadow of their former selves, old cummins were a #### fine engine

 

Yeah not the same engine at all it's a combine effort at fuel injection

 

Man, that's terrible. I'm assuming that's all warranty work, therefore no money out of your pocket(not counting money you forfeit from the wheels not turning).

Did Cummins give you anything to soften the blow or to help you choose their products in the future?

 

It was a company truck. Roadside mechanic said it was likely a blown head gasket. TA mechanic in Corning concurred. Redding Freightliner (RF) said, "Nah, it's just a coolant leak. We'll have it ready on Monday." Monday comes. RF says it's ready to go. No load , so i sit for 16hrs. Wake up to a pool of coolant under my truck. Fixed, uh? RF takes it back in, tears the head apart, and says, " Gonna be at least four days" to fix. No apology for misdiagnosing. I sat at a motel for eight days before i gave up on it and picked up a loaner. It ended up taking 23 days to fix. They feel in no rush since it's a claim against the engine maker's warranty.

My cheapshyte company didn't cover any expenses, so i quit them.

I concur on the seat cover. I can only look though, not allowed to touch.

 

part of the problem is it takes cummins so long to ok the repair procedure. many times i've had to wait a week or more for cummins to ok the repair. so the truck will sit no parts ordered till cummins says ok. the days of fixing the truck then figure out how the bill will be paid are long gone. none of this lets RF off the hook for misdiagnosing the repair or the lack of concern.

 

Didn't ERF get absorbed into MAN A.G.? Never got to drive an ERF, although I saw a number when I was in South Africa. Earlier ones were pretty distinct... later ones looked like a badge engineered MAN TGA.
