The fans in the coleman thermo-electric coolers tend to go bad in 6 months or less when ran 24/7.
I replace the fans myself with computer fans from E-Bay for less than $10.00 each.

The Cloeman thermo-electric cooler fans usually only last around 6 months when used 24/7
I replaced them with computer fans from E-bay usually for less than $10 each.

They can be a pain, Inside fan: pull off inside cover, remove 4 screws holding fan, splice wires using wire nuts, screw new fan on, put cover on.

Outside fan: unscrew 4 screws holding outside cover, mark position of fan for reassembly, remove 4 screws holding fan,
splice wires using wire nuts, screw new fan on, screw outside fan cover on.
The pain in the butt part is insuring the wires & new fan are positioned so the outside cover aligns properly.

My hope is the computer fans should last longer than original fans in the cooler

You have to check the wattage of the fridge. There are some out there that are 100 watts. I wouldn't get one that was more than 300.

My truck has a decent sized built in unit and I also have an Engel unit to keep frozen foods in strapped onto the top bunk. It wasn't cheap but its very durable, good on energy consumption, the compressor isn't made in china crap, and overall worth the cost in the long term.

Thanks for the replies here. I've been using one of the Coleman coolers. Replaced it twice so far. Both times it was the plug that broke on it. I'm in a freightshaker and I think all the bouncing around/vibration did them in. This 3rd one has been going strong since, I think, about October-ish. I wrapped the plug in foam padding and hooked the power line so it threads across the stop of the fridge nook, so it's nice and snug and bump-free. I've also got the cooler itself sitting on top of two styrofoam "boards" so it's got some cushion as well. Cools like a champ. If the fans go, I'll probably just do the computer fan replacement.
Only have 2 weeks left to fulfill my contract with my current company. I'm undecided as to what company I will be moving to but hopefully it will be one that either provides a fridge or allows an inverter more powerful than the 400 watt 12volt.

If the plug burns out you can get a replacement plug at any truck stop.
Trouble is, they are either too cheap and melt, or they come fused with a fuse that is too weak. And the fuses are an odd size, one that the truck stops don't carry.

The original fan with the Coleman cooler is 100mm, and a standard computer fan. (Not so with most other coolers. They have odd sized fans, and no capacity to use anything else.)
100mm fans are harder to find though, so you'll probably end up replacing it with an 80mm fan. The fan is mounted to a heat-sink, so going to a smaller fan is easy.
(If you get a fan with 3 wires, just use the red and black. The yellow is only for fan speed control.)
It will still work, but probably not as well in the summer months.
Best bet is to find a 100mm fan when on home time, to have on hand when needed. Or order one online and have it waiting for you.

Not only that they suck in the air from the inside of your cab which can make you sick... especially if you smoke. I don't have that problem with an actual fridge but yeah, those coolers are a health hazard. Still better than nothing...
