    ive been reading alot of the post on this site and there are alot things said about how bad these companies are. as a newbie it kinds of deters you from getting in a career in t/t o.t.r industry. what i dont understand is when post are put up about companies firing newbies for any little thing.

    why recurit some one offer to get them there class A put them up while they train, pay for there transportation from there state, pay for d.o.t physical,drug test feed them while they are in training shell out this money and then turn around and fire them to me thats a waste. a waste of my time and a waste of the companies time ' i thought time was money'

    i would think that shelling out that kind of money the would look at it as a investment? and if so firing a newbie is like letting your money walk out the door i understand as a newbie you sign a contract for this money(4500-5000) and you will get hit for this bill if you quit or get fired. im sure this money is insured (collection agencey) but why would a company go through all of this to make money and screw up someones credit and life??

    i respect the info. that is giving on this site and the pit falls to look out for when somone like me a newbie is looking at a career change. cause i look at driving t/t as a career.you would think that these companies that offer training for newbies that firing them for the littles thing would be the thing theydont want to do??why not cater to newbies and look at them as a investment.

    why fire a newbie because when they assign him/her to a trainer and they are not making with this trainer (everybody doesnt have the patience to train) why not just give the newbie a new trainer why think the trainee as a problem and turn around and fire him/her why would a trainee LIE on the trainer. i was allways told you can get fired from a trucking job quick fast is 1-poor attendance 2-accidents 3-stealing from the job. not because you didnt get along with someone.

    some of this stuff i read is crazy, BUT IT IS REAL,and crazy at the time.im looking a career in t/t industry cause ive been driving straight truck for 8yrs. and there no monrey in straight truck everyone is making the change to t/t so im changing to and the money is much, much better. i know driving a straight truck (local) isnt like o.t.r and the guys that drive t/t at the company ive work for dont go through half of the stuff that gets posted on thi site .

    this is not to say that i wont log on to this site and read the post i will still put up some post myself. cause im getting ready to go with one of these o.t.r companies and get the training to get my class A i hope i dont go through half this s*** i read on this site i really like thi site i really do .

    Just keep a good attitude, and keep your chin up.

    Not all companies are bottom feeders. Some actually care about their drivers, and realize the driver is the real product they have to sell to the customer...not the truck.

    These "good" companies don't spend a lot of money advertising for drivers. Because they have a HUGE pool of applicants to choose from. Make sure your application is one of them.

    thanks for that input. i feel thats why companies get burned from there employees cause they treat them like s***. thats why i beleave in unions they wont allow the member to sit there and let the employer try and rape the employee or for that much the ;NEWBIE;

    Ok the reason these company's do what they do is they are Paid by the Govt for training new drivers under several different programs. 1 Program pays al the training expenses the other pays 50% of the wages while the driver is a trainee and then they get tax breaks on top of that depending if they hire minority or Vet's and such. So it makes them more money to keep the turn over high since the money flows and they have no real out lay just time and thats nothing for what they pay there people.

    Not all companies will fire a newbie for conflicts between the trainee and trainer. I know a few will try to hook you up with another trainer asap. I have known newbies who where fired because something came up in their back ground check that did not come in before they went out.

    There is a lot of info on this site. Don't let it overwhelm you or intimdate you. Remember there are a million reasons drivers have left,fired, or got burned. Just choose the companies that look most appealing and fit your needs. If you follow the threads of the veterans of this message board as well as the moderators you can weed out the truely bad stories from the disgruntled drivers stories. You will be ok.

    thats not true ive read alot of post were the person stated (newbie) was fired from a company while they were in training cause they had a problem with the trainer either, they were just doing all the driving,or the trainer wasnt teaching them nothing. if you received your class A then that states that you can operate a C.M.V so driving isnt the issue. but allowing someone to teach you what you will be confronted with when your on your own.its like i said when i started this post :EVERY ONE ISNT A TRAINER JUST BECAUSE THEY SAY THEY ARE : you need patience,patience,patience. i hope and pray when i start training and i get a trainer i dont have to deal with this.cause if im not learning anything they (trainer) will know about it RIGHT AWAY!

    For the same reason those "poor" farmers in California hire illegals to work the fields. MONEY.

    BTW, farmland suitable to grow grapes, goes for $145,000 an acre...you are seeing correct.

    The POOR farmer need all the breaks he can get. Cheap labor and subsidies.

    One man's fortune is another man's pocket change. An acre of land on the Las Vegas strip costs well over $20 million. $145k wouldn't pay the monthly light bill.
