Does it matter what state you take the cdl test in ?

No matter which state you obtain your CDL in, you will still need to transfer it to your state of residence at some point.
And no, they are not all the same.
The written tests can vary, as can the road test and skills test.
And each state has their own rules for transferring a CDL. Some are as easy as taking the basic class C/D test for 4-wheelies, plus hazmat stuff. Some make you do everything over, including endorsements, skills and road tests. -
I'm thinking you get your CDL in the state you live in,but if you go to a training company out of state.yea I dont know how that works,but the CDL is generally the same in all states..

Some states will transfer with no problem. Others will make you take the written again; I believe California is that way. There are a few that will make you take the written AND road test to transfer.
