wanting to drive heavy hauls

    Systems transport is the wrong place to come for Oversize work. You will get very little opportunity for it and make very little money for it when you do. Often times you make less on oversize than you do on general freight the way their pay scale works.

    The blade fleet can pay ok, but the work is inconsistent at best and when it gets going you are required to stay out for 3-6 months at a time or more to maximize the opportunity.

    The pole fleet pays 40cpm on all miles, but its hardly oversize. Just 20 ft or so hanging off the back from time to time.

    Yea I agree its a shame they tie those trucks down so slow. Not only ruins a good truck, but costs the driver a lot of hours that he could be making money, or at least more money.

    Don't think I could drive one out in TX, OK, NM, KS and places like that. Its like you are lighting dollar bills and throwing them out the window.

    Prime fools are the ones that get me. 55mph on 70+mph 2 lane roads, the the idiots wont ever move over etc.
    Imagine running I10 all the way across Tx at 55mph!!! Now THAT would be a long day....rofl

    LOL I know you're right. Id have to find me some way around them. Its the same in NM. Most of their backroads are 70 or 75 mph

    Heck, running I40 at 55mph would be a long day!

    Arizona and New Mexico have split peed limits for OD/OW loads. Az is 55mph for permitted loads, and NM is 65mph. Az makes for a long day for sure, even when "pushing" it a little.
    A guy I know that was leased onto Combined got nailed when he was speeding through Kingman, when the officer looked at the time he bought the permit, which is typed on it. Worked out his average MPH off that, and tore it up. Not a happy boy at the end of it all, that's for sure.

    That would bite. Then having to get a new permit. That might take some time when they find out why the first one got pulled..
    As for driving a "pete" You will have to pay me another nickel a mile more and then widen the cab. I'm a fat man and I like my room. Plus my wife is with me, Oh before some pipes in. She's a lot smaller then me...

    Well my main goal is to get the experience and join a buddy of mine in Canada where I can run the ice roads (yes I wanted to do this before the show came out) the haul roads just call my name with lots of green paper. As for the truck. I'm a big kenworth fan but I drive a freight for maverick and have no complaints with it.

    I went all the way across on I-20 at 55mph in February. It's actually not that bad once you get used to it.
