My company typically pulls vans and reefers I have a customer that I just bought a stepdeck for and we will shipping machines on it every week for the next 63 weeks. Never done any stepdeck work what kind of rates do you think I should be seeing coming out of midwest back to SC.

    Thanks in advance

Lots of "inexpensive" companies like to go to the South. In addition, there are equipment manufacturers in SC and ports in Northern GA. You will have tough competition. My opinion is that you will have a bit of a challenge doing better than 2.25/mi.

That is my point. Lots of people do well out of the SC area. So my theory is that the OP will have a bit of a challenge getting a good rate from the Midwest back to SC.

I just look at all miles per week or month. I'm over $2.50 all miles now for the first time consistently since I've been in business, but still got some lanes people telling me I'm too cheap. Not sure how greedy a guy should get.

Plus my expenses per mile is dropping thanks to some good equipment decisions and fuel savings initiatives. I don't wanna be the "cheap guy", but don't wanna gouge good customers either.

    Cetane+ and MJ1657 Thank this.
