Used to have 2 turbos with 58 boost. MXS C15 Now has one turbo with 28-30 boost and they said that was light and try the power setting on the BD. Boost went from 28-30 to 38-40. On cruise it goes up BIG hills legal gross at 65 and 1300 rpm and the tachs don't drop a bit. I am scared for tranny have 1850 ft. tq. Is this too much power now?? Temp gauge runs cooler and fan runs less and when it does runs for much less time. MPG didn't really go up which is a big kicker for the money spent. Thoughts please.
My upgraded CAT; Will it tear itself up ?

if by legal gross you mean 80 000 I wouldn't be worried about the tranny at all as long as you are smooth with the throttle.
-
Go easy on the gas and the mph will go up. Who fix you up, sounds like they did good job.
-
The tranny will be fine. Just drive easy and do not run hard.

If you have a temp gauge on the trans I would go by it. As long as it isn't showing more heat than before I think you would be ok. Hate to hear the fuel millage didn't improve I would thought that it would. I know thats been the main reason for the upgrades you have made to the truck.
Cetane+ Thanks this. -
Look at the model number of your transmission. The torque rating is encoded in the model number.
For example RTLO-14613A-T2 The torque rating is 1400lb/ft. You can see that in the first two numbers after the first dash. You multiply that number by 100 for the rating.
if you have a roadranger manual trans. You can find this info at roadranger.com.
R-Roadranger
T-Twin Countershaft
L-Low Inertia
O-Overdrive
14-Torque rating X100
6-Multi Mesh Gearing
13-Forward Speeds
A-Ratio Set
T2-Top2 -
Mine 10 sp is for some reason is fro-16 something which is 1650 lb ft. My truck had 475 hp and 1650 lb ft factory setup.

I assume this turbo has no wastegate?

Tranny will handle it fine like everyone else is saying. Just be smooth on it and you're good. Trans temp will run cooler to cause your not constantly pushing torque through it trying to pull. Shifting on hills would create a lot of heat for me when mine was stock. I can remember running i40 to Cali years ago when I was around 80000 with my trans temp maxed at 300. Haven't been out there in 10 yrs but still have pulls in triple digit heat and stays about 225

Thanks everybody.
