Hi all,
How many companies did you apply to before or during your truck driving school? Just curious if you put all your eggs in one basket at a time or applied to multiple companies at the same time.
How many comapanies?

I applied at every one that they gave to me and I also went online to find more. Fill out as many as you can, once you get pre hires from them, then do research on each one to find out which one is the best fit for you. That's what I did anyways
-
Did you apply to any before you started school? If so, how long before you started? I start school June 30th so I wonder when a good time is to start applying.

i would wait until i have my learners permit and am in school
so you can tell the company when you will be available
remember you dont have long after school before your brand new skills leave you
some companies wont take you after a set amount of time without a refresher course
myself i dont believe the very first company is any good except to get experience to move on
you wont even know the kind of driving you want to do until you been out here a little while
others will disagree so it is just my experience -
I drove for Schneider for almost 8 years, but, that was almost 17 years ago. Hate starting over, but it is what it is.
Schneider was actually a good company to work for. They get a lot of crap for supposedly under cutting and used to for driving slow, but I think much of it was unfounded and just ignorance. Anyway, I don't think I will be going back to them as they want to start me out too low. Besides, I think I will try my hand at flatbeds this time. -
Did my research, picked my winner, and applied with them only, the day after I started school. Stuck with them for a year, then moved on to fulfill my new priorities. YMMV
