Drive a truck, build up experience. Go down to west texas. Cement guys make 70 to 120 k a year. Roustabouts 55+, with the right overtime.

Wow...hand learn to take a joke for pete's sake.....HotH20 was kidding.....that quick temper you seem to possess won't bode well at all in this industry. But in answer to the original post those already mentioned are great jobs with high-end pay...but you also have the food service jobs....at a few places you can earn well above 70k and even more if you really hustle. I did it for 30 + years and retired in 2011 with a darned good retirement package. The best thing about this niche is the pay/home time/benefits etc. the cons are , it's a very hands-on physically demanding job. But once you get some time in you're only gonna work 3 maybe 4 days a week....that's only 12 to 16 days a month. Good Luck getting started , only wish you the best. Oh...BTW ...in your area try GSF (Golden State Food's) they have their headquarters in Irvine , and a couple of facilities in City of Industry. great place to work..and retire from! TTTD...Last edited by a moderator: May 3, 2014

There is taking a joke and then identifying someone as fully useless for your purposes. In the case of the latter you can say anything to them and it doesn't matter, because again, they have shown themselves to be of no use to you. I am not in the industry I am unemployed and hungry. This is an internet forum for helping others out. A joke is saying what he did, forming a new paragraph and then giving a serious reply.... Kind of like what you did. Thank you. A golden state foods employee told me he has worked for them for 10 years and he pulls in 100-120k per year. That is very hard for me to believe. Do you believe it?Last edited by a moderator: May 3, 2014

yes sir I do....especially if that employee lives in California. I live in NC , and retired from them (GSF) in 2011...when I retired I was running 3 days a week and earning 72,000 +or- a couple k a year. If I had been living in your area LA ( I'm assuming)..I would have been well into the 6 figure range. Cost of living is way higher there than here in NC that's the reason for the adjustment. Give them a try..they are great employers. Again Good Luck to you !.......... Not any of my business really but , HotH20 is a pretty good poster on here...usually has great info and is willing to help out...I'm sure if your situation was known ( UN-employed & hungry)....that comment wouldn't have been made. Don't know this person from Adam's house cat , but most of the post/s made by this poster are relevant and helpful...just saying this to help out.

yeah, I had a shot at one of those, I was unsure if the time was right to change careers. The offer they made seemed totally unrealistic for a local driver, home every night. thought about it for a day or two then called back. Guy on the other end said "yeah, you were the first guy we called, the second guy took the job immediately"
live and learn. that was with Cysco (sp), food service, haven't seen their ads since. 12 hour shift home every night. (and yes you were the loader/unloader with a hand truck)Last edited by a moderator: May 3, 2014

Not sure why you would disclose negative information about yourself if its not on any background check. One trucking job that pays well is hauling crude in the oil fields. But then you would need haz-mat endorsement and some experience. Its great to be honest "if you like your health insurance you can keep it"

In my opinion I would only disclose the information they can find on there own. Good luck and God BlessChinatown Thanks this.
