dam u must be a cullman driver
-
Not Cullman But don't want to say where. Been at a total of two DC's for 24+ years
-
Alot of companies are going to this no cell phone even if handz free
-
That is what WM tried at first. Drivers went into full revolt. Then the policy became "Use the phone as little as possible," and the driver decided what that was until there was an accident then the company decided if they agreed with the driver's opinion. If WM decided that the driver wasn't complying with the policy, he was in deep dodo. The driver's then wanted it more defined so the above mentioned, but very inflexible policy.

this is coming down eventually from the govt.
For wal mart drivers; A 17 inch neck is an automatic exam....a bmi over 30 or 34(to be determined by examiner based on BP readings) is a sleep exam. You have 30 days to get the first test and get any follow up tests needed. You must have letters from the testing facility and your family doctor attesting that you are being monitored and you must submit electronic monitor readings from your C-PAP showing you are using it nightly(even on days off) to both the physician and the company.
If you would like to determine your bmi;
Formula: weight (lb) / [height (in)]2 x 703Calculate BMI by dividing weight in pounds (lbs) by height in inches (in) squared and multiplying by a conversion factor of 703.Example: Weight = 150 lbs, Height = 5'5" (65")
Calculation: [150 ÷ (65)2] x 703 = 24.96Hope this clears things up
We have not gotten a definitive answer about how this will affect or be used on new hires. These sleep tests are not cheap. If the trucking companies will not help pay for them...a lot of drivers may not be able to afford to apply for jobs -
Chewey, Don't know where you are getting your information, but I know several drivers that have taken a physical within the last 2 months that have necks over 17" and bmi over 30 and did not take a sleep apnea test, one was only two weeks ago. They were asked about their sleep habits and if they were tired and sleepy during the day. These are DOT certified doctors doing the exams. They were not required to get a sleep test, but it was noted on their physical that they fit the general physical description of having sleep apnea. I have not seen anything in writing from Walmart that if your neck is over 17 or BMI over 30 that you will be required to have sleep apnea test. If you have this information in writing then please share it with us.

I think it varies from Doc to Doc. I know the one that we use has been sending drivers like crazy for sleep studies.
