Most of the gas cans in our area deliver at night, so it's not as busy, except the big 32 pump mega stations, that have a designated area for deliveries away from the traffic and pumps. And heavens to betsy, what in tarnation is that bug thing? Bug eliminators have come and gone, we've seen them all. There's just too many of them. Anything short of a deep freeze in July, just won't cut it.Reminds me of when I was a lad,at our lake cottage, the bugs were so thick, you could cut them with a knife. Years ago, my old man had a gizmo he had on the lawn mower. A fitting on the muffler, and a can of God knows what trickling into the hot exhaust. Produced clouds of smoke, he called it the "blitz fog". Was good for a day or 2, and right back to where it was.
So, driving tanker seems profitable, whats the catch?

Be persistent, Me personally, I have goals set in mind as to what I want out of a company, income I want, Benefits (yes, or no), location to live, family time, Etc; Your list may be different, But the questions should be there to fit YOUR situation. DON'T JUST FLOAT THRU SPACE, if you want something out of your career.
We ALL start somewhere. Unless your the bosses son (Daughter, Sorry Ladies) you CAN'T jump from point A to Z without the "in between". Just the way it is.
Again, persistence!!! My personal is, I started out in Flatbeds, went to Dry vans, then got the chance for tankers and I MOVED to get the chance to get the first stepping stone to where I wanted. It's what I HAD to do to get the experience to get where and what I REALLY WANT!!! We put in Apps for HOURS. But a week doesn't go by that I'm not offered at least 1 job. IN THE MEAN TIME, I'm gaining as much experience as possible ( make yourself indespensible, The more you know, the harder it is to get rid of you. Unless your just a $!%%) Take the time to get to know people. That's your best resource for jobs. If someone knows your DEPENDABLE (GASSSP!!!) they won't mind recommending you!
Do your home work. None of this will happen overnight, But again, unless "Daddy" owns the company, It's the way IT IS!!!
Good Luck and stay Persistent!!! -
