Well Its almost a month where did you go? How is it working out? Do they allow riders? Home time? Information is the name of the game
-
What about riders? How Long did you say the training was? For Trans Am.

melanie Thanks this.

I am starting my CDL training in a couple weeks and this helps tremendously with researching all the different companies.
-
What is the latest on this company. See their trucks on the road. Can't find one parked so I can ask a driver. Good, Bad, OK?
-
Help us newbies out? You really getting the miles and getting home?
-
hey all,
I haven't been with TA for over a year now but I am changing from petroleum to chemical transport so I have an update as to how t.a. treats its departing drivers as far as DAC reports go.
If you read earlier posts, I was just getting my shiney new truck from t.a. parked my old white one and cleaned it out, never put my stuff in the new one and left. went to work for a fuel hauling company with only 3 months experience and was pleased as punch to instantly see a raise, have a weeks vacation paid to burn, cheaper health care, and home everynight with weekends off.
Good move and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
Anyways, I always wondered if Transport America was going to whine, cry and complain or worse lie on my DAC.
Well a few weeks ago I was talking with a different company and decided it was a better deal I couldn't pass up. Did the application, got called for the physical, then got another call, re-explain the circumstances of your departing TA.
YOWZA!!!! Gave the new guys the same story I had (truth) and they scheduled me for a handshaking tour. Did that last week and they asked me about TA again. what went on why'd you leave??? WAs thing ta maybe badmouthed me or something???? Anyways, same story as application from me and they scheduled me for safety training this coming monday.
Went and got my mail and there was a copy of my dac in there.
Date starting and ending, no comments or codes... no bad mouthing.
???have no clue why this company kept asking the same question over and over???
whatever it was they were satisfied with my answer and there wasn't a blemmish on my dac from ta.
So I'll take this as another good reason to start driving with Transport America. Granted if you steal or wreck the truck you'll have problems but if it doesn't work out they won't get stupid all over your DAC, which seems to be the case with some others.
BTW I went to a ptdi course jan of last year, and am driving or starting now with a company that requires 2 years experience. SO, if you're deligent yeah, good things can happen.
Hope I didn't just jinx myself... lol -
I went through TA's training/orientation in Sept 07, out with trainer and have been soloing since Oct.
I have found them to be very fair, take very good care of their equipment and the pay is competitive.
The miles you get is largely up to you. The same drivers who gripe about not getting miles are the same ones turning down loads or going home every weekend. "I don't drive at night." "I don't do Canada". "I won't run New Jersey." No New York City for me." These are many of the comments I hear from drivers and then their next sentence is "this sucks, I only got 2000 miles this week."
I personally run anything and everything, FedEx at night, hazmat,Canada, Jersey, whatever; If I can find hrs to run it I run it. I have averaged 3000 miles a week since I started, drive a nice condo and feel I'm treated fairly and am appreciated.
If you are a safe conscientious driver with honesty, take pride in your work and have a good work ethic you can do very well here.melanie Thanks this. -
I pulled into the ohio yard, dropped a trailer, grabbed a shower, re-hooked, went back into pee...
Other driver been there since early a.m. and not leaving til later that night after me.
"how'd you get a load?"
"dunno was on the qualcom"
"where ya going"
"NJ"
"oh thats how you got a load so fast, I won't run nj, ny, ect... traffic,"
"ok??? seen ya, I gotta run..."
