Well, I got all my paperwork in to Transport America this week. I took my drug test today. They cut about 4 bald spots in my head. lol. (Luckily I keep my hair really short, so it's not too bad!). I go to orientation in Birmingham, AL. on Tuesday - Thursday next week. I get my trainer at orientation and head out on Friday. I hope the trainer is a good one. I have heard some horror stories about bad trainers. I'm just going learn as much as I can for these 3-4 weeks. I feel pretty good about the company from all that I have researched and a couple of drivers I talked to. If anybody has any comments or advice on Transport America or just being a newbie in general.....I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks! Be safe out there!

Keep in mind they are spending a lot of monies on you to train, if you have someone that is a bad trainer let them know. It killed me every time I got a student back that did not know or could not pass his up grade because they did not tell anyone.

    RookieTrucker7 Thanks this.

I definitely will. I think I should be o.k. as far as basic skills. The school I went to was pretty good. I am just ready to learn all that I can from an experienced driver. That's why I hope I get a good trainer. Thanks for the advice.

General advice (not a TA driver but I know a few and I'm a past trainer for another carrier) Most important thing for you to do is ask questions. Your trainer can't read your mind so when in doubt just ask and don't worry whether it's a "dumb" question. Another thing to keep in mind is pay attention to detail. It's the little things that will keep you out of trouble (and save your hide if you get in trouble). Other than that good luck!
