550 is right....If it was factory from the Pete hatching place, I'd say 550 called it...If he stuck her in there it was probably marine...Since I never had mine on the dyno,I don't know what she really put out and I had to go on what he told me.The only thing I know for sure is that a buddy of mine is running the big 650 cummins with an 18 spd and he never seen the hood of my truck when push came to shove and we were playing.lol.

Nothin like a good 'ol white motor. Never drove one but have ridden in a petercar that had one. Before we left out he pulled the old long hood over and all I said was.. "WTF is that???" Hahaha I got a lesson in Caterpillar that day for sure.

He claimed the white Cat was factory installed. One of only a few such applications. He bought it new, and the white Cat was the main reason why he kept the truck for so many years -- and tricked it out.

Why don't you buy a new Big truck?
    Others would ask.
Headin' out of Denver toward Utah, on I-70, their question was answered ---
I'll be waitin' for y'all in Salt Lick City.

And, he was. For hours. :yes2557:

Upon their arrival, he posed the question .....
What took y'all so long to get here? :biggrin_25525:
    He purrrrred. :biggrin_25523:

    :cat:Purring is a GOOD thang.

There's a young goof ball that lives north of me a little ways that has a Mack ch613 with the :pukeright:e7-454 and a 10spd that he pulls a lowboy around with.At the time I didn't know him very well, but we had mutual friends and he ended up hanging around some of the same places..He was ALWAYS talking crap about that Mack being fast...The first few times I heard him say it,I LMAO in front of him and it would piss him off.... Awhile later ,I ended up with that old Pete and one day a big herd of us were sitting at the dead pecker table drinking coffee at the local hang out and this turkey starts his usual stuff and to my amazement, the older hands started backing him too about how fast it was and how he could make that Pete look at his flaps:smt017...I thought I was in an episode of the twilight zone( found out later they knew what was going to happen and just wanted to sit back and watch and they said they had been planning it for weeks...yeah right)....I said" tell you what I'm gonna do for you,for a hundred bucks I'll teach you a little lesson"...I told him I would be willing to run him and we could measure off a mark at 3/4 of a mile and a mark at 1 mile. We'd take off even and if I didn't make it to the mile mark before he hit the 3/4 mile mark, the dinero was his.... One thing lead to another and over the next few days, lots of bs'ing on the cb and cell phones, it got more heated and more idiots joined in and the stakes were raised to a grand and I finally told him that we could race north on highway 45(wide with sparse traffic)... I would face south and sit in the bar ditch in the south bound lane(ever try to turn 302" around on a two lane?)....He could face north and we would take off at the same time and run for 1 1/2 miles down a straight stretch and who ever crossed the line first was "the Man"....We had volunteers with radios to watch the traffic and we "may" have had a little backing by a few in local law enforcement who liked a good bet too....This went on for a week or two and all of a sudden he started finding more runs to the north and the east and quit answering his cell to me or most guys who were involved in it.I haven't seen him face to face since that time either( ain't missed him much either:tool:).I don't know for sure that I could have spun around and ran him down and passed him,but I was willing to bet a grand I could and there's no telling how much was bank rolled in side bets.Yep....purring CAN be good:smt040.

    HeY!
That was back in the day, -----
when fuel was less than a buck a gallon.

The load mighta weighed 15,000 pounds, maybe.
Our Big trucks usually ran pretty light loads.
On that particular trip, we were all double-decked with motorcycles -- probably around 30 to 35 in each trailer -- mostly light street bikes and dirt bikes.
Let's just say we didn't bother to scale the loads.

    MPG?
Who cared, back in the day?
Especially with NO Big truck BIG truck truck payments to make.
    Triple digit, anyone?

He took the high road, and we took the low road ---- and he STILL got there first.
    If he wanted to.
Choice is a beautiful thang --- no? :yes2557:

The point I was tryin' to make was that the White Cat had Tiger Paws -- and climbing mountains seemed to come more natural to the beast. Much more nimble than it's yellow siblings.
And on the flats --- that White Cat flat skedaddled.
Here kitty-kitty, or there, kitty-kitty -- it was usually out front, kitty-kitty. :biggrin_25523:
