99 percent of companies won't hire you without formal training.
Community college CDL schools are the cheapest and just as good as private schools.
Trucking school should be a breeze for you since you're familiar with much of it already.
Millis Transfer in Burleson, TX has a pretty good deal for CDL school and a job.road_runner Thanks this. -
Iam in the process of getting the WIA grant from my state of texas but I wanted to make sure cause i seen a lot of the companies say get your cdl with out spending thousands of dollars with us but I wanted to know everyone opinion when it comes to it

WIA program is a good deal; if you're approved go for it.

I got approved waiting for a start date that's the part that sucks just waiting for these people to tell me when to start
Chinatown Thanks this. -
While waiting for classes to start, study for all the endorsements and consider getting the TWIC card. Google will show where the nearest TWIC office is. All this will put you in a position for the better paying jobs. Top of this page, click on "CDL Practice Tests" for all the endorsement questions.

Go for that.. the companies that tell you they can get you a CDL without you spending thousands.. there's a caveat to that. Your repayment is in the form of an amount of time spent working for them. Now, you're not actually bound to the company, but if you leave before that specified time period, then they'll expect payment for the school.
Stick with the WIA route. -
Im about to turn 20. I'm 100% sure IM getting the CDL. since i have been training diesel repair classes im paying the cdl for $1345. Normal price as avg adult getting cdl will be $6K.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
That's high, I paid right around 4k after everything was said and done. If I wanted to drive an extra 20min each way I could have gone to a CC Class and spent almost half, which I kinda wish I did.
