This is a forum asking which trucking companies operate automatic trucks, not a critique or an evaluation of these types of trucks. How amazing it is that people can so quickly depart completely from the topic of conversation at hand.

I've owned a Volvo 780 Auto shift 3 pedal(formerly usExpres truck )for the last 5 years, bought it at 470k miles ..now at 1.2m mls and runs great! Never overhauled anything in power train, average 7mpg. only replaced Transmission ECM Solenoid 2 yrs ago...and 2 onths ago replaced Tranny ECM b'cos I wanted a software upgrade (no breakdown) and old ecm could not take software, plus replaced harness....all $3500...............and thats in 5 yrs!.........I shift up/down using arow buttons on pad except in stop and go traffic...never had issues with this truck...just regular maintenance mostly hauling 45k loads.
My conclusion..all trucks are good...create your luck with it by being pro-active in maintenance......and if you're a RACING ace (over 68mph), you've no business being a pro trucker & businessperson....with all the current FMCSA/csa regulation and Fuel prices,,,..wont make no money$$ trying to bbrrrrrr past other trucks on freeways..showmanship..go to Hollywood. -
You're right. I made this mistake myself.

I road tested a guy that had 2 years experience. He couldn't hit a gear. I've seen newbies shift better. He told me all he drove was automatics. We didn't get but a little out of the parking lot and had to come back. The company still hired him but sent him out with a trainer. That's what happens to the lucky ones. Not all 2 year exp. companies are that generous.
