This is a little long and I hope that none of you ever need this information ....

With tornado season upon us, the Kanas State Highway Turnpike Authority wants to remind drivers of the 30 tornado shelters located along the Kansas Turnpike.
Underneath the tollbooths and the Turnpike Plaza are concrete tunnels that serve as storm shelters and provide heat and electricity to the tollbooths.
“If we were evacuating people from their vehicles or the toll collectors from the plaza, we’re probably seeing the tornado, or it’s not too far from here,” Gruber told KMBC 9 News.
If the weather looks threatening, the highway patrol advises you have a plan in mind for shelter– plan ahead, you know your route, make yourself aware of the areas that offer shelter.
“You definitely want to have a plan during this time of the year,” Gruber said.
It is most important to remember; do not try to outrun the storm, and if you’re too far away from a designated shelter area, don’t try to race the storm. Tornados can shift direction without a moment’s notice. Get out of your vehicle and head for a ditch or the lowest point to the ground.
Truckers, do you know of any other such storm shelters for travelers? If so, please share their location with us, so we can share the information with other drivers. Stay safe.

Heading into Mother's Day weekend, we're still talking about snow for parts of the Rockies and Northwest.

    Winter Alerts

A strong southward dip in the jet stream will dive from the Pacific Northwest into the Four Corners by Sunday, driving Winter Storm Zephyr into the Rockies.
Snow will spread over the higher peaks of the Cascades and northern Rockies through Saturday evening, with heavy snow possible in the Tetons and Beartooth Ranges of far southwest Montana and northwest Wyoming, as well as the Bitterroots and Sawtooth Range of Idaho and western Montana.

    Rockies Snowstorm Timing

Saturday night into Sunday, Winter Storm Zephyr will shift its snowy emphasis into the Utah's Wasatch Mountains, as well as the high country of Colorado and the Snowy Range of south-central Wyoming.
Snow levels will start out rather high Saturday night in the high country, but then fall to mountain base level by Sunday morning.
Furthermore, colder air will slide down the Front Range of the Rockies Sunday, eventually changing rain to wet snow even along parts of the Front Range I-25 corridor from southeast Wyoming to Ft. Collins, Denver, and the Palmer Divide.
This snow will gradually taper off by Monday morning.
    How Much Snow

Snow accumulations over one foot appear likely in the mountains of Colorado and Snowy Range of south-central Wyoming, as well as the Colorado Front Range foothills west of I-25. Some periods of thundersnow are possible
Accumulations over six inches are possible, as well, along the Palmer Divide between Denver and Colorado Springs.
At least some slushy accumulations look likely along the Denver-Boulder-Ft. Collins-Cheyenne corridor Sunday into early Monday, with the potential for at least four inches of heavy, wet snow.
(FORECAST: Cheyenne | Boulder | Denver)
    Potential Impacts

    • Travel: Conditions will deteriorate in the mountains of northern Colorado and south-central Wyoming beginning Saturday night, and along the Front Range from southeast Wyoming into northern Colorado by Sunday morning. Slushy, icy, or snow-covered roads will remain a problem into Monday morning commute.
    • Interstates affected: I-70 from Denver (possibly as far east as Limon, Colorado) into Utah; I-25 from southeast Wyoming to north of Colorado Springs; I-80 in southern Wyoming, particularly between Cheyenne and Laramie.
    • Tree damage/power outage: The weight of this wet, heavy snow may down power lines, tree limbs, even some trees.
    • Winds: Occasional 20-30 mph winds in the mountains may reduce visibility to one-quarter mile, or less.
    • Avalanche danger: This heavy, wet snow falling on lingering mountain snowpack in Colorado and Utah will lead to a high threat of avalanches in the days following the storm.
    How Unusual Is This?

May snowstorms in the Rockies and the Denver metro are not as unusual as you may think.
In six the last 10 years, the season's last measurable snow (0.1 inches or more) fell in May. Denver picked up an inch of snow on May 10, 2011 and May 12, 2010. Average May snow in the Mile-High City is 0.7 inches.
There have been five Denver snowstorms with at least six inches of snow later than May 9, including a 10.7-inch snowstorm on May 25-26, 1950.
The latest measurable snow on record in Denver was, incredibly, June 12, 1947, just three days before Father's Day.

So here's one for you guys... I know we've heard the rumors that Prime is trying to buy TransAm. I was on the yard yesterday about to bobtail out and get food when I look in my mirror and see a PRIME trailer. I turned around and found the guy backing into a spot to drop the trailer. It was a TransAm driver who was sent to the Prime terminal in SpringMo to pick up this EMPTY Prime trailer and bring it to Olathe. Any ideas? The driver had no idea what was going on, just doing as dispatched.

If Prime does buy it, 1st thing that will happen is the speed will get turned down. They only do 60mph.

I would mostly be interested in how this would affect my contract.

Another thing, leases on the new trucks are now 6 years instead of five. And the new 680s have hideous plastic nose mirrors better suited for a Freightliner.

I am feeling way better now. I have not made up my mind yet but I have a week to do so. hank you HTQ for asking.

Brian leasing does work for some but not for most when you are brand new. That is true just about every company. At least you are getting experience here but if you hate it so much move on to a different company. I have posted my settlements on here and so has Cranky. You can make money but have to know what you are doing.

Weather was getting bad today but that passed and now it is all warm and sunny. My cousin is visiting tomorrow. I hope she can handle being in the middle of the woods(at least 40 square miles). Chopped a little bit of wood so we can have a fire. First night for anyone back here is a little scary since there are no street lights. LOL Maybe a scary movie or 2 will set the mood.

    Be safe out there
