Hey hoss relax. 11/3 is what many guys call the national fleet. They do the 11 out cause that's the shortest to get the three days off and people swear it is a great deal. Also there isn't a top end on the days off. The chart only goes up to 7 off but if you stay out past the 36 you will earn an extra day for each six out. I get to Marshfield a few times a year and have done so for the last 8 or 9. I am from the south so I tend to speak differently than the locals. They never fail to ask where I'm from and many carry the conversation farther. Go to a local watering hole and throw on your best Hee Haw act and see how long till someone buys you a beer. They are really nice people up there and I look forward to being there. I wish i could get all my truck service done there.
Before the dumb comments come up I do not drink much, or on company property and only if I am staying overnight at a buddy's house or in the hotel.

Any drivers currently drive this fleet for Roehl? Was wondering how it was for home time and if the keep you moving. I just applied for this fleet on the Honor Program.......any help would be great. Thanks Gunner
-
Regional fleets only offer 34 hours off. Figure you will be asleep twice during this time so it doesn't leave much for family time. Consider the 7/4 7/3 fleet, it will be more predictable and will offer better home time, quality home time.

I went through training with Roehl, it lasted 19 days total. I posted my comments under Roehl Dac Report in this forum. It's under a thread named "Roehl Orientation". Feel free to pm me.

BTW, I sent you a pm. -
Do you have to go out with a trainer if you are a experianced driver.
I have driven TT for 18 years but only at local jobs,(home everyday)
There will be things I will need to learn about being on the road but nothing to do with driving per se.
Do they still make you go out with someone for a week or so to learn the over the road skills or do they just let you go? -
I believe they do. But it's more to learn the DriverLink and paperwork stuff, I think. Its only three days to a week from what I've heard.

well thats kinda a hard question to answer..
i have about 9 months and they were going to make me go with a trainer for a week to 2 weeks.but for the other guys in my class, they told them that they would get trucks right out of orientation.they did have between 2 years and 18 years experience already though.the paper work is easy to learn so i dont see a reason for them to have you with a trainer.good luck. -
Hey Gunner.. I live about 25 miles north of you.. I finsihed school march 21, 2008. I will say the training is great, trainers are great at Marshfield. Evo I was great until the end.
I picked up my first trainer at the Dayton yard. 121 miles away from me. no big deal. Then about 6 days later picked up another trainer and was switched in Birmingham, Al. No big deal. Both trainers taught me alot and I was having no real problems driving or anything else with being an OTR trucker. The problem didnt come until my last day after being out 11 days.
They or should I say the DSR decided to drop me off in Tiffen,Ohio which was 27 miles from the house.. Where as I didnt have any way to get home, and my car was 147 miles away too. Which I had no way to retrieve. I discussed this with the DSR at the time and I figured out fast that this was the way it was going down.. I did try to make other arangments with him. His answer: " You will figure it out "
Yes I did. After discussing this problem with Fleet Manager. I never made it to evo II. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me.
Too bad too I really like OTR. But not enough to let someone walk all over me. I sure if my wife wasnt a true blonde, and could drive outside the city limits, or had someone else who could have picked me up and took me to my car in Dayton, Ohio. Im sure I would have still been with them.
Good training school, good trainers at school and on the road. Good value for the money. I never met a person I didnt like at school or OTR. Not so smart DSR's or Fleet managers though.
Your call, just my experience.
I might add if I could find aother company that was good as Roehl I wouldnt hesitate to go do it again. and Im presently looking. Driving OTR is was really fun for me because I like a challangeing job.IRISHGYPSY Thanks this. -
Hey Homie I saw that you are close by.........have any luck getting back on the road?
