From what I gather the 3406e is comparable in most regards except certain areas of the block in relations to strength and oil leaks. The 6nz made changes to these problems and thus the better motor . The MBN is a bridge that came out late in 03 replacing the 6nz that addressed EPA issues and thus not as good when it comes to power and mpg etc. but can easily be flashed to 6nz specs. The acerts are a different horse in that they are twin turbos among other emissions changes that are problematic. Especially the earlier versions. Also there's a difference between C15 and C-15. The C15 being acerts. The C-15 the 6nz and MBN. The 3406e was neither.

    Here's another one. http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/trucks-eighteen-wheelers/129090-6nz-questions.html

Tmc has actually been redoing the interior of the trucks if they feel it's not up to their par. Every time I went in to the shop I'd see trucks getting new seat covers, new steering wheels, new arm rest, floors, what have you. I had a long hood two years ago that had to have the top rebuilt while I was in Fargo. It had about 927k on it. The mileage after that was #### good for what their standards were. Every truck is going to be a different story no matter what brand you buy.

Nice truck. Is the 2000 a 6NZ? Looks clean, good tires. Interior looks ok, hard to tell, but no windows in the sleeper. All in all tho with a fresh overhaul well worth the money. If it's the 6NZ that addressed the oil leak issue, even better. Worth taking a closer look at for sure if anyone was looking.

KW dealer just bought one and picked it up from our yard two days ago. Didn't get a good look at it, so I couldn't tell you what the specs were, but I believe it came from one of our agent fleets... they typically run their trucks over 1kk, and if KW was willing to buy it at that point, you know the demand's high.
As for trucks, every one is going to be a crap shoot. Yes, lemons do pop up from time to time. But, a lot of it can be on the owner's end, as well. If you're not doing our part as far as upkeep goes, expect it to take a #### on you, no matter how well built and fancy it is.

They replace the seats, not seat covers. Almost all of um have leather seats. I did get a new seat, but it was super uncomfortable compared tot he old one. (they dont replace with genuine pete seats and thus they dont match the passenger ) Truck 91139 never got a new steering wheel and it was coming apart in my hands. new seat had no arm rest. Floors, they clean um, they never replaced mine. We dont have a terminal in Fargo, so unless the problem out the truck out of service, they would not have rebuilt it instead of selling it.

Wouldnt necessarily say there junk. I just bought an 02 Calssic XL flat top with a 6nz one owner truck 900,000 on the clock. I know they have a reputation for squeeks and rattles which I was prepared to deal with but this was the smoothest quietest truck I have ever driven down the road bobtailing.

If your a Cummins guy you might want to take a look at this. I know he sold the trailer already so it would probably put the truck down in that price range. I called about it and sounded nice. Crate motor had around 200k on it.
