Hello everyone I am wondering what the exhaust valves temperature should be. I checked them 1 and 2 were reading 2 were 210 . Then 3 and 4 were 240 dg. Then 5 and 6 were 186. I checked them with a heat gun. I getting a lot of blowby and was wondering if I could have injectors bad?

How did you use a heat gun on the exhaust valves? Did you measure the valve tips with the valve cover off, or did you pull the exhaust manifold? If you're measuring manifold temps at each exhaust port, that's not too accurate, but can show cylinder with a dead miss if 1 cylinder is a lot cooler.
Excessive blow-by is usually worn rings/cylinders. What is your oil consumption like? Any fuel smell to the oil? Did you do an oil sample? -
No fuel in oil that I can see. I used an infared heat gun checking temps at each exhaust port.

you've got different compression in each cylinder. possibly. evidenced by the engine blowby. you've got worn rings and cylinders. and probably high oil consumption.
your heat temps could also be from where your manifold exits to the exhuast pipe. you've only got one exit. for 6 cylinders. so your exit point would be the hottest.
i wouldn't worry about the heat differential. i'd be more concerned with the blowby. -
Hi nhramember, can't help you with the hot valve problem, but just want to say I'm a HUGE fan of NHRA. Can't wait for Joliet, June 27th-29th. Anybody that's a gearhead, and has never been to a national meet, I strongly urge you to go, and don't forget your earplugs. Now, what were we talking about again?
