Hi to everyone here. I used to drive a truck in the mid 80s and due to having a new wife and kids, I left the profession to raise a family and have a more stable home life. After 8 years of marriage my wife and I divorced and now the kids are grown and have their own families and I rarely here from them since they live in another state.

During that time, I worked in the hospitality industry as a chef and I worked at some amazing hotels all over the country. Several years ago, the company I worked for was bought out and they began to sell off all of their properties until they finally offered me a general manager position at a hotel in the Wisconsin Dells. That didn't appeal to me, so I left there and went back to college. I received an A.A. Degree in Business Management in 2010 and I have been taking online classes one or two at a time since then to get by B.A. in the same field.

All that aside, I have always missed driving OTR and I decided to get back into trucking. There certainly are a lot of changes since the 1980's, but in June I am going to a driving school to obtain my CDL and hopefully get back on the road again for a few years.

    Brian...

Sealiftcommand website is looking for culinary & chefs on merchant ships traveling the world & 20 yr. retirement plan. These aren't family cruise lines, they're supply ships servicing military ships. Probably visit 15 or 20 countries the first 12 months on the job.

Back on topic; study the "CDL Practice Tests" at top of this page. The more endorsements along with TWIC & passport, the more high paying jobs trucking will be available.

Good Luck with the school and getting back into it. I to am working my way back into it but I left a few years ago for different reasons. Start training at my school next week and hope to be out there soon.
