I know I might get in trouble with this but...I know almost everyone disagree with most companies lease program. I want to eventually own my own truck so I want to get into a lease program for a while to see how it feels to fun my own business without buying a truck right off. At least with a lease if I don't like it I can walk away from it. I'm pretty sure if I but a truck it wouldn't be so easy. So my question is for you guys is..What are some good flatbed or tanker companies to look into?

Quality Carriers
Cardinal Logistics - has flatbed & reefers
Schneider Bulk - tankers
Schneider Bulk drivers seem real pleased with the 0/0 program. -
All of the company leases I have looked at have the problem of giving the driver all the bad stuff about being an owner operator without any of the good things. You are locked into a certain cpm without know what the actual freight pays.
I would suggest you find a company that allows you to work for a percentage of the load. That will give you an idea of what kind of money is out there.sevenmph and Toomanybikes Thank this. -
TMC. I must write more

I hear Schneiders deal isn't that bad. At least you can do their choice program and you can see what their freight pays. But i think you gotta have at least 6 months experience. I think leases are terrible but if you're going to do one It'll probably be Schneiders

I agree, but would go with the tanker division. If you leave someday, you already have a truck set up for tanker work.

Thanks for the responses. Do you guys know any on the flatbed side?

Just read the contract closely and you might want to check out the lease purchase thread on this site. It has very valuable info on Lease/Purchase.

Prime has very good equipment and they pay by the percentage and flat bed, tanker and reefer are available, compare all the companies then make a decision

i would say that is a pretty fair assessment
however, if i was going to lease, i would go with a company NOT bound by elogs and 60mph truck
such things hinder your performance, and if you are leasing, you want the flexibility to get the job done with as few restrictions as possible
sadly, too many drivers do not realize that this is a fluid industry and concrete rules are a major hindrance
