Home time wherever you want? How is that possible if you have to leave the truck at terminals? My sister lives in Davenport Iowa, I'd love to spend some time with her and see my new nephew I still haven't gotten to see yet in person. So if I want to take home time there, they're telling me I'm going to have to leave my truck at what looks like the closest terminal in Manteno, IL and walk my happy butt over there carrying all my stuff???? That's not home time wherever you want, that's home time at their terminals... Is there something I'm missing?? Please inform me, I'd love to know.

Probably won't get a straight answer from the Swift drivers; most will say, "I'm rich, if you're single."

Most of the Swift drivers are really no help at all I've found, they're actually some of the most self absorbed rudest bunch I've come across, but I have no one else to ask, dispatch is just as unhelpful, driver manager, fellow drivers I run into on the road, you name it, none of them have helped. I'd love to be able to just spend my home time with my nephew and get to see the little guy, but not everyone lives next to big industrial areas that have terminals... how do they expect those guys to get home?

Just park it somewhere legal, take your 34 and head out when you need to. If it's a secure lot, they should have no problem. You always see them at truck stops and such. Pulling a 34 and "home time" are pretty much the same thing with these big companies anyway.

What he said. Try and get loaded to Davenport or closer then Manteno and take your time off. May have to raise a little Cain if they keep it up. Try to find out who loads with you all in that area and request those loads. Good luck!

Most DMs will let you take the truck home. I don't know why yours won't. Moosetek will probably chime in when he wakes up in the morning but I know he takes home time all over. And I never left my company truck at a terminal I always took it home.

Depending on how often you get through there, you could buy you a little compact car or something to leave at the terminal and drive to sis' when you are through there? its 168 miles, about a 2 1/2 hr drive to Davenport. If you don't get through there too much, it probably wouldn't be worth it. Im surprised they wont let you park at the Iowa 80? Then you could get a taxi to sis' house? I used to leave cars sitting around everywhere I spent any time at. LOL Considered it a break just to get away from the truck for awhile.

You can request hometime anywhere you want to take it. Just enter the zip code for the area you want to be in with the date you want to be there. I don't remember which macro it is. You can't take hometime while loaded, although if the load has enough time on it you can do a 34 somewhere on your route.

The deal with the terminals is if you are going to be out of the truck more than 4 days, in which case you may have to give up that truck and come back to a different one.

If you get to Davenport and need an extra day or two, you can always claim to have the 24 hour flu.

Do a macro 8 its that simple. And if home is more than 80 to 100 miles from a terminal you take truck home, or your case sisters house. Unless. Home time is in people Republic of California. Then they tend to be ##### about where you can leave truck
