And this is why I don't show up to Swift/JBS as soon as I can. Load still isn't ready. So, I am still parked at the Petro in Salina, KS.

Cant ever forget that. I figured that out when I delivered my first flatbed load back in 07. Havent forgottwn that, or stopped reminding non-cdl holders that ever since.

Like I said before, Im still going to hang out here in the "JCT Lounge" to harrass my squid friends and scratch my trucking itch by living vicariously through you guys.

I'm not sure how many empty trailers they may have for you guys at a plant, but sometimes the reason the loads are not ready is because you guys don't have enough trailers there to put the product on. So even if your load is being loaded. You are slowing down the production of your brothers in the company because they could be using your empty trailer to start on the other guy's load. Also the truck stop just North of Grand Island Plant if you do it right. You can make it there without tripping the drive line on the E logs.

And rolling there while low on hours does me no good if the load is not ready.

Although that may be true, the plant usually (not always) notifies the company that they are short on trailers.

But in reality, most of the time it's simply because they SUCK!

I just called again. They do have trailers there at the dock for loading. What sucks about beef plants is that your load and 10 others may require only one part of the cow and that's it. So, every time they get a load of cows to butcher, they have to divide that one part of the cow between 10 loads.

But, like it said, me rolling there low on my 70 hour clock does me no good. There is no reason to start my clock for a 3 hour drive just to sit another 20 hours. If there is a chance to get a restart while waiting for the load; I would be crazy (or stupid) not to take it. Now, if we ran paper logs, it would be different. I would have been there last night. But, we run e-logs and you have to make it work for you to maximize your hours.

If JCT really wanted me there as soon as I could, my phone and QC would be blown up with messages and calls.

    Dinomite and Alanp613 Thank this.

I do understand the hours thing, and I've been in that situation as well. But just giving the heads up on those who do have the hours that the trailer could be utilized at the plant more then it could be empty at a truck stop. I've also had some guys like you said who were trying to get a restart in and was pushed to break it so they could get mt's to the plant. Only to sit for as you said another 20 hours waiting for the load. But I don't know how the logistics of what goes inside the meat plants, but as someone said. A cow, pig, or chicken can only be divided up into so man parts to put in the box. Glad I don't worry about that. I just try to get it delivered safely when it does get ready.. Good day folks.
