I was driving through Grand Rapids to get some fuel. Had the day off but thought I would go to the truck stop and get fuel and DEF after picking up my truck from Penske for a PM appointment. State Trooper started passing me, then hit the lights and siren and pulled behind me. I was doing nothing wrong. Under speed limit. He came up on the passenger side and opened my door. I was polite, gave him all my paperwork. He checked my med card, trailer registration and my logbook. Questioned me about what I was carrying, where the theatre was I was loading into tomorrow, where I was staying ,etc.... Then he took my CDL and truck registration and went back to his car. All my lights were on and I turned on flashers the minute he lit me up. He checked out my lights and sat in his truck for a few minutes. Then came back and told me I was 'good to go'
Never told my why he pulled me over....

On my way back to the hotel after fueling up, I seen him with another trucker pulled over....
I guess it was just my turn....

    Aminal Thanks this.

Ya, they don't need probable cause to pull you over. They can just look at your paperwork and call it a level 3 inspection. Meanwhile, they use the opportunity to check you and the vehicle out to see if any further scrutiny is warranted.

I definatly was happy I pulled away with no additional paperwork! That's why I didn't even ask him what made him pull me over, he said 'good to to'..... so I went.
A lot of firsts these first 5 months......

Wow it's the Pup dude. How's it going in your rookie year with no instructor. You have surpassed my estimates of calling it quits. Seems like you still hanging in there.

Good job, nc, you did right. In the 35 years I've driven a truck, I can't begin to tell you how many times I've been pulled over, for no apparent reason. Every time, I treated the officer with respect, did what they asked, and above all, KEPT MY BIG MOUTH SHUT! And most times, they let me go, unless I had it coming. It's a shame that's what it's come to, but who knows what that officer just done done with before they stopped you, maybe some trucker with a abducted kid, or who knows. Remember, it's their business to find out what's going on, you did good. BTW, was it a woman cop? I've had my toughest times with women cops!

You never know. They could have had a vague description of a crime and he was just checking. It's good that you were all squared away and just gave up a little time. It's a good thing to protect your record.

Doing great. Having a blast, really. This is my 15th stop on this tour. Headed to San Jose next week. They asked me to do the 4 additional weeks of 'finals'. There are 2 other drivers but they asked me. I felt honored that they thought I was doing a good job to ask me.
I have had to back that lil pup into a lot of crazy places. A lot of blind side backs into parking lot loading areas and such. I've made my share of mistakes...but I haven't hit anything, got out and looked ALOT, studies Google earth and the atlas till my eyes bled... I have driven in snow, rain, fog...Up and down the mountains of WV and NC... all while nervous as bell with no trainer. But my motto has been 'think, pay attention, stop, think, plan, and then just do it!
Seen the sun rise over the fields of the Midwest, drove through tight ### cities like Pittsburg and Wochester Mass, but also got to take some personal time to go to a Blue Jackets game in Columbus, a baseball game at Fenway, a baseball game at the Texas Rangers. I also went to the American Pickers shop in Iowa, the pawn shop from that reality show on 8 Mile in Detroit and to the Gas Monkees Garage in Dallas. Spent a night on Beale St in Memphis...
Everything the company told me, they followed through. Quite an amazing job. It's gonna be hard to get a 'real job' after this one....
I miss my wife though... I'm hoping the six months OTR experience will help me get a job I'm home more.... been home 2x in 15 weeks....
