If I were you I would go to work for pepsi-cola. that is a good job. as for the op. if you are broke and your credit is shot. you might have to do a company sponsored program. I would look at stevens transport, freymiller, celadon maybe, I wouldn't bother with crst, us xpress, swift, covenant, werners not to bad, davis express has training, there a pretty good company. just remember it's a year contract and then you are done with it. once the contract is up. there is no hold over you to get a better job to fit your needs.

Don't go to us express or Pam. I went through CRST and require an 8 month contract. They only drive team. You'll start out at $.25/mile for the first 3 months and then you get bumped up to $.26/mile. Once you hit your 6 month mark you a pay raise to $.32/mile and every 6 months after that you get a $.02/mile raise until you hit $.38/mile, then it goes up every year.
If I was to do it all over I would go with Prime. You get paid during your cdl training $500 a week until you get your permit. After that you get $600 a week or $.12/mile (whichever is greater) until you graduate to an "A" seat status. You have to drive 40,000 miles between your cdl and with a trainer in the "B" seat before you can graduate to the "A" seat status. Once you are at the "A" seat status you start making $.42/mile plus a weekly fuel bonus.
Search on here for Prime and you'll find a lot of happy drivers. Heck, go to your local truck stop and ask them how they like working for Prime. I haven't found one that hasn't been willing to talk to me about Prime and how they enjoy it.
My contract with CRST is up next month and I'll be jumping to Prime as soon as possible.
Hope that helps. -

It took me failing on the road test to realize I do need a school. I now also understand that I'll be "worth" more to companies if I graduate from one.
As far as for double clutching, I've never had the chance to learn how to. I've seen youtube videos on it, but that's it!
Thanks for your comments man! Really appreciate all of you taking the time to respond! -
The reason why I havent jump on any program is because I can't just afford to stop earning income for my family.
I will definitely look into it man!! Thanks!!
