I never could get used to night driving either. I like day driving as you get to see everything. I never had a problem falling a sleep during the day time unless my body was not drained. That seldom happened. During my time OTR, I usually did team driving and split logged it. When I drove at night, I drank coffee, soda and water.

I'm back at the Richmond yard. Got here at 1:30 this morning. I didn't have to run in this early, but I wanted to see Jonathan about my hometime load.
The Phoenix load I picked up in High Point NC made it as far Olive Branch Ms where I dropped it and picked up an empty. I had to deadhead 35 miles to Moscow Tn to pick up a loaded 2 stop trailer coming back to Richmond. I was done in Moscow and headed back to Richmond at 11pm Friday night. It was 38 miles back to the big road and I thought I had it planned right, I must have miscalculated my clock and earned an attaboy for getting a long violation. Oh well, number 2 in the 13 months here, not bad if you ask me. I get to the rest area and was 13 minutes into my violation. No parking, my thinking is 13 minutes of violation looking for a safe haven is the same as 30 minutes looking for a safe haven, so off to the Loves I go. Got parked and went to bed. In my little world there's no difference between 13 minutes and 30 minutes.
I had 701 miles to go to Richmond, I made it with 3 minutes to spare after stopping just once for fuel and supper. I dropped my trailer then went in to see Jonathan. I need to be home and empty on Thursday, I have an important piece of business on Friday that is going to take the whole day Friday. Tim did his part as usual on Friday to get me turned around, and Jonathan did his last night. I have an HP load that leaves Tuesday afternoon going to Boca Raton about 9 miles from the house that delivers at 8am Thursday. In the meantime, because I'm the most hungry driver out here, I offered my services to run something short, I got a South Plainfield NJ load that leaves tonight that delivers at 10am tomorrow. This gives me a chance to watch my beloved Miami Heat on TV today then leave. Meanwhile, my tire issue is being taken care of yet once again, this time they are putting on new sneakers.
I did get a phone call from Sally on Friday, I have a new student to pick up on Thursday when I get back. He's a 52 yr old electrician that wants to also try his hand at truck driving, I hope this one works out, my pride can't take 0-4. Time to walk up to the Waffle House.Last edited: May 18, 2014
Lonesome Thanks this. -
Made it to the yard last night so I, like JB, could get with night dispatch for a good load. Happily surprised that it was Jonathan. Got a load to Moberly MO for Tuesday evening. Good! Now it can finally get my tattoo finished in Columbia. Of course, a wrinkle was put in the plan by Higgins adding a stop in Metropolis IL. Now I will just get the tattoo done Tuesday night instead of Monday night. And get more miles and an extra stop to boot. Wish I'd of known you were here before I started my clock, I would've had breakfast with ya.

Here's a picture taken in a rest area in NC the other day, a beautiful morning with the birds singing, the weather just beautiful, the truck looking good, and me walking around waiting for my clock to tell me I'm not tired anymore, 2 hours later.
Lonesome, mommy6, bigred81 and 1 other person Thank this. -

I finally got some issues worked out and got rolling pretty good only to wake up to a breakdown this morning. Stuck at Pilot on I40 exit 161 Jacksonville, AR. Can someone please get Murphy off my truck? It's time for him to ride with someone else.
