Welcome to the thread Gntorres61 & Seagravesmomnsc
TransAm is a good place to start in trucking if you start as a company driver. If you come right out of CDL school and go lease, you have rocks in your head.
You MIGHT be able to make more money as a lease driver, but not in your first few months. Too many mistakes that you can make, both big and small as a new driver that TransAm will eat if you are a company driver. You will eat as a lease driver.
I drove an average of a little over 2,800 miles per week in my first 6 months as a company driver with TransAm. More near 2,900 per week in in the following 6 months.
As a company driver you will be ask to do swaps, rescue loads and other annoying tasks. Bite the bullet and do them, take one for the team if the request is reasonable. It is the reason TransAm keeps company drivers. However, you do need to stand up for yourself if TransAm is regularly asking you to do the unreasonable.
The trucks are super nice for a starter company with built in fridge, APU, big inverter, GPS, auto trans, air-assist everything.
To start with TransAm, you really need to feel good about your CDL training. Feel like your CDL school gave you a good base to drive a truck safely and not just a mill to get the license, as TransAm training is far shorter than industry standard.HometimeQueen Thanks this. -
I'm in Kingdom City. Got to Schuyler an hour and a half before early pickup and the load was ready! Grabbed it and took a 10 at the Scalehouse since my 14 was up. I had to stay under 15mph to get there from Cargill. I deliver in Macclenny on Tuesday. However, I intend to show up at 0515 on Monday to play sweet and stupid and try my luck at getting unloaded a day early.

Well, gamma left out around noon today, he's at Tyson in Rogers, AR for now, said they are short handed and load will be ready about 3 am. He'll be headed to Ohio after that. We really enjoyed hometime! We even had a date night which for us is pretty much unheard of lol. Sadly the last 3 days of it, he was sick...thinks we gave him the plague lol, he still feels bad, but can't call in sick on this job. Least he gets to rest for the time being waiting on his load. Hope everyone here had a great week! Time for me some rest as well lol, see y'all tomorrow lol.
dennisroc, passport220 and HometimeQueen Thank this. -
I was being good and wasn't going to say anything.....toooooo easy!
dennisroc and Panhandle flash Thank this. -
I'm sorry gamma got sick while he was home and hope he will soon be feeling better. Rogers, Arkansas was one of the regular pick ups for the King after being home, maybe it will turn out that way for gamma also. It always started his first week out with some nice miles.
