With Trimac you have to get on their website and make sure the school you plan to go to is one of their approved schools. I filled out the short form app the other day and they called me back today about my experience. When I told them Im a recent grad and from which college in Houston, Tx. they told me they only recruit from a college in beaumont tx ("Lamar College") .. which is like 1 1/2 hrs away. What didn't make sense is that the position I applied for is a local gig in Houston. They couldn't hire me though.

 

Im not sure about in Florida, but in Texas you can't get any endorsements until have an actual CDL to apply them to. Cant get them with just a permit.

 

You can get the tanker, but there is an expiration date on the hazmat (I think it's about 41 days). My instructor advised against getting the hazmat on the permit. He said to take the test the day you go to pick up your CDL.

I am currently in school at Sheridan Technical in Broward.

 

Last Friday was my first day so I really cant tell much based on experience. However, I checked it out thoroughly and know that I made the right decision.
