Hey joseph, Really? Boy, I am out of the loop. So you say you can tell if a chicken coop is open or closed and if DOT is going gonzo? Or if a DOT is hiding near a gravel pit or grain elevator facility waiting for overloaded trucks? Maybe you could tell an old fart how that works. I'd think law enforcement would have some kind of block on that.
Is a CB Radio really necessary to have?

Straight up here: I seldom had mine on for years...seldom.
But seeing the deterioration of the overall quality, caring, and professionalism of drivers in our industry (not to mention four-wheelers), it is seldom off these days. It's squelched down, but it's on. -

Just an addendum to my previous post. If you are pulling a load requiring pilot cars you are LEGALLY required to have 2 way radio communication with your pilot car.

All this talk about radios made me decide to upgrade my decrepit 148 GTL.
Picked up a Connexx 3300 for $270. The factory mic seems to be as good as my RoadKing, if not better. -
My opinion,cb's are more of a luxury item.Yes it helped me the first couple months into trucking. But haven't used or had a cb put in any of the trks I drove since..
