power inverter keeps shutting off

I have the PowerDrive 1500 and it runs my 700 watt microwave just fine. You probably just got a bum unit.

 

electronics go out. NOTHING lasts forever. as it looks like you just founjd out. by replacing your bad invertor.

 

I have a factory inverter in a 2016 freighter the inverter keeps shutting off...nothing is on turned on tv shut down

Depends on how many actual volts are at the end of the line right where it plugs into the inverter to be 100% exact. But...

Watts = Volts X Amps

SO if your truck is at exactly 12 volts (rare) then 12 volts X 150 amps = that breaker will trip when you pull 1800 Watts of power from it. That is a plenty safe breaker for that inverter.

Technically you could easily go to a 200 Amp breaker which would trip at 2400 watts and give yourself some more "spike" room but still be nicely under the inverter max. (this would be my choice because I err on the side of caution when we installer inverters here.)

However, finally you could technically go to a 250 Amp breaker (or fuse for those reading along) with that inverter which would trip when you spiked to the full rated 3000 watts of the inverter. On paper, this is ok. But again I actually try to stay a little bit under the rated maximum of inverters when I fuse or breaker them. Most trucks run 13-14 volts and not actually 12 on the dot. So a 200 Amp breaker would still trip at 2600 Watts if your truck puts out 13 volts for instance. Not that I don't trust the Chinese... Lol.
