Ain't that the truth. Some of these comments have me laughing. I run all over California and never have a problem. Last time I was pulled into a scale was right after they opened the new Eastbound side in Cordelia. What a nice facility that is.
Headed to California.....

That is a nice one, well lit. I don't think I've ever stopped at the brake check at the summit. Maybe if I was in a truck with janky brakes or a bum transmission. Do gotta watch out for those fly by nighters though...ncmickey Thanks this.

If words like must, mandatory, etc are there.. best show the stop on your log.. (since its a must)ncmickey Thanks this.

Donner's not a big hill, it is a series of hills. Don't be complacent because you think you've made the last drop, because there's always another drop ahead of you.
Stop at the Donner summit rest area, then plan on getting to Sacramento or beyond. There aren't any good places to stop in between.
As already noted, parking in the Bay Area is a huge challenge. Whenever I have a load in or out of the Bay Area I plan on staying at a Walmart or truck stop well out from the city area and get an EARLY start in the morning to beat the traffic.ncmickey and Cranky Yankee Thank this. -
Good advice. San Fran can certainly be a beeotch when you pile traffic onto your already stressful schedule.

California has nothing on Arizona when it comes to the DOT. I never go through Arizona and don't see at least 3 or 4 trucks getting roadside inspections.

Made my second leg today. Sitting at the Loves in Wamsutter,Wyoming. 676 miles today. Just over 1000 miles to go.
Wyoming is incredibly beautiful! Still a few patches of snow around. But was in the 70's today... it's amazing to crest a hill, be able to see for miles and there isn't a building, road(besides the one I'm on!!], or even a tree in sight.
Gonna get as close to Reno tomorrow and have a shorter day on Thursday. Parking in San.Jose won't be an issue. It's arranged with the hotel and convention center.
Any interesting places to park east of Reno?? No cathouses!! Lol

You can run up to 60 mph in Cali and be ok. The inspection stations are no joke, been pulled into cottonwood one 3 times the last couple years.

The Cheyenne Wyoming scale was the only scale open all the way from Michigan the last 2 days.... The gave me the 'come inside and bring your paperwork' light... but it seemed like everybody was getting it. I think it's more to give the truck driver a little excersize, cause all they did was punch my DOT # into the computer, ask what I was hauling and sent me on my way...seemed everyone was in and out in just a few minutes
