That's how many they bring in. Most weeks around half will be gone for medical, drug test failures or background reasons before they ever see a tractor. Probably half again will not get as far as receiving their CDL.

What are some of the reasons students don't get as far as receiving their CDL? Because they quit or other reasons?

That, can't walk 'n chew gum at the same time, don't have the slightest clue about driving, bad attitudes, decide that trucking isn't enough like "Smokey and the Bandit" for their liking, too stressful for them, hard work isn't part of their concept of life...

Bunk rooms are first come first serve free of charge. Rooms are assigned at 10 or 11 am and checkout is at 0700.

You can only have it for that one night and cannot get another one for 36 hours (maybe 48). It not a free hotel.

Rare occasions someone is just in and out to sleep and checks out early, housekeeping will turn the room around for another driver and the room can be checked in for 8 hours.

Break any of the rules and the driver's bunk room privileges will be suspended.

theres a sign on the housekeeping office door that lets you know if any rooms are currently available.

Must be a driver with a Prime ID to check in

So, 75 out of 100 can't stick it out for a few days? Wow. That says a lot...

Although, from the stories some of you guys tell, the wash out rate should maybe be just a little bit higher.

CDL students are given one week on the truck to decide if it's for them. After that they owe some serious money. Yeah, the washout rate is pretty high, but then again many of the other training carriers pass nearly everyone. Which would you rather have?

ironpony - from the stories I read on this forum, there are a lot of people in trucks that don't belong there. So, I suppose it would make sense to make the training more rigorous, and the tests harder - upping the quality of drivers, since people are always complaining about incompetent steering wheel holders. On the other hand, higher wash out rates could mean a shortage of drivers I suppose.

I can't claim to have an educated opinion yet, I was just commenting on the wash out rate being surprising. How can that many people have a goal and then abandon it so easily? I suppose it's just the world we live in today.

I'm pretty sure it's on your trainer/FM if you're not able to stay in the truck for some reason. I know when my trainer went home I stayed at the campus for free.. I'm assuming since it's full, they should be able to put you up somewhere.
