Well said young man. There are many of us who are sick and tired of these rules/laws and I just think it's so dumb that a cop can pull you over and give you a ticket because you aren't wearing one. Up to $200 find too. It's a Choice, simple and there's no guarantee it will save your life. I can only think of Ayrton Senna who perished after hitting a barrier at 110 mph. Didn't save him and he was wearing a crash helmet too. Come to think of it, we get blasted for not wearing a seatbelt but motorcyclists can go Scott free without a helmet. Now there's madness for you.
Seat belts....do you always "buckle-up for safety"

In EMS, we have 2 words for people who don't wear their seat belts.
Job security.

-
I remember every fatality.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
Only wear it, if I think I might get caught, whats the difference from riding a motorcyle, no seatbelt on them?? why are they even legal without seatbelts and roll cage?
-
I am guilty of not always wearing it in the yard or maybe when moving Trailers.
But If I am actually driving I always wear it.
I actually feel weird when I don't have it on.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -

I wear it every time, all the time.
I was a cop for several years in Texas and worked several fatalities. The old adage "I never unbuckled a dead man/woman" is true! I never did! I did literally collect bloody evidence off pavement, windshields, dashboards and other exterior surfaces as remnants of those who didn't wear them.
Refusing to wear a seatbelt to rebel against the law is pure ignorance! That's the worst excuse I've ever heard for not wearing a seat belt. You're willing to die to prove a needless point? Put that on your tombstone! "He rebelled against the seatbelt law!"
My wife was in two grisly accidents before we married. She wouldn't be here without seatbelts. My four kids would have never been born. My numerous grandkids would have never been born. My second born son was in a grisly accident. The seatbelt and airbag saved his life. Without seatbelts two of my grandkids would have never been born.
Here's a thought; "What if a devastating accident stops just short of killing you? Have you thought about being paralyzed because you didn't wear a seat belt? Have you thought about 2 to 3 years of rehab just to get back to the point where you could walk again much less drive? What are you going to do for a living if you can't drive? Walmart isn't hiring anymore greeters you know!
What good has rebelling against the seat belt law even done you? Have you changed even one thing for the better?
As was previously inferred, "if you're not going to wear a seatbelt, own the consequences!"Bean Jr. and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
Wearing your seatbelt loose is as bad as not wearing one at all, ever watch any motorsport event, what is one of the last things a driver does, he TIGHTENS his belts, the slack in the belt will hurt you, imagine getting hit in the chest with a 2X4.
Some food for thought, when I was involved in the head- on fatal crash I was in, both vehicles were traveling 55 mph, so it was a 110 mph impact. I only had a lap belt, but had it pulled tight, I never hurt in my waist area, but couldn't raise my hands over my head for almost a week from bracing myself during the crash. Now after impact, I slid down the shoulder of the road and felt the truck start to turn over, still being in the operator position, I tried to steer out of the roll, however, on impact, the steering was broken, so my trying to steer the truck didn't work. BUT, when the truck rolled over on it's side and stopped, I was still in the driver's position and was able to shut off the truck, assess what I needed to do and get out. Without the belt I would of been injured worse than I was.
To the person who made the comment about the F-1 race being killed, he wasn't killed because of the seatbelts OR the helmet, he was killed from a broken neck and blunt force trauma. NOW, racers use HANS devices to hold their head and neck in place and you don't see those injuries as much.NavigatorWife and Joetro Thank this. -
When I get in a trk im driving, first thing I do is buckle up .In my car, well I need to work on that.I do buckle up but sometimes forget till im almost at the place im going. But when I see a cop car funny how I soon remember otherwise the fine here is like $200.00.
