I know you're right, part of how they run you is based on your home address. I however, don't really understand TransAm's calculations on this point.

My home address right now with TransAm is a rented mailbox about .5 miles off of I-80 in Iowa. I will keep that rented mailbox, since it is prepaid for another 8 months and continue to use it as my home address with TransAm.

In the years that we were with TransAm the King got to run I 44 one time other than when he was coming home....and that was because the closest ThermoKing was in Springfield. I do think they purposely keep you running another lane while you are on duty. Part of it, I think, is fear that you will stop by the house and not maintain scheduling. In any case, keep your rented mailbox and don't let them know that anything has changed, would be my thought.

^ Yeah, other drivers have told me the same thing. TransAm tends to keep them off a "home route". The thing is, I have always used that address near I-80 and TransAm has always run me right by it. As far as TransAm knows, that is my home and not just a mail box, so who knows. As you say, I will not change a thing.

    HometimeQueen Thanks this.

OHIO - parts of I 70 and I 75 closed because of flooding

There are reports of flash flooding in several parts of the Miami Valley as a storm moves through the area.
Flooding has been reported in MIami and Darke counties. Interstates 70 and 75 are closed due to flooding. I-70 is closed in Vandalia and I-75 is closed in Miami County.
In Clark County, a person was trapped on the top of their vehicle on Ohio 235 at Gerlaugh Road. Crews used a boat to rescue the person.
A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for Champaign, Clark and Miami counties until 10 p.m., and in Montgomery County until 9:15 p.m. Clark, Darke and Greene counties are under a flood advisory until 8:30 p.m.
Champaign County Sheriff's Capt. David Rapp said there are unconfirmed reports of water waist deep on Henry Street in Urbana.
"It's mostly the low lying areas, mostly concentrated in the city of Urbana," he said. If a motorist comes across a flooded road, he said not to try and drive through.
"You don't know how deep it is," he said. "Your car can be swept off the side of the road."
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect until 9 p.m. for Auglaize, Butler, Clark, Darke, Greene, Mercer, Miami, Montgomery, Preble and Warren counties, as well as Wayne and Randolph counties in Indiana.
A Tornado Warning issued for Clark County expired at 5:15 p.m.
"All will be capable of hail, and areas Interstate 70 south have been outlined for the possibility of two-inch hail," Simpson said. "Also, some dry air above the ground will enable these storms to create very strong downdrafts and that means the potential for damagig winds on the order of 60 to 80 mph."
The threat for a tornado is low, but a weak spinup cannot be ruled out, he said.
Tonight, showers and thunderstorms will end in the early evening. Temperatures will fall to the mid- to upper-50s.
A cold front will quickly pass through the area into earlye vening, ending the threat for severe weather and rain fairly quickly.
Thursday will be breezy, with a mix of sun and clouds. It will be a bit cooler with highs in the low 70s, Wirdzek said.Friday will be partly cloudy with highs around 70 degrees.

Hi, TA folks! Figured I'd chime in and introduce myself. I am wife of gntorres61, "Deuces!" Currently I am caregiver for my 81 year old mom. I'm hoping to ride with George at least occasionally, if I can convince one of my nieces to stay with Mom while I am out with him. HometimeQueen, do you ever join your husband on the road? Being fairly knew to the trucking lifestyle, I really miss George when he's gone. Is there a trick to not missing him so?
