You gotta start somewhere. Can't start out making .50 cpm and home everyday. All the decent companies want experience.

Exactly.....But the industry needs to set the bar a bit higher.....

Since when did cut-off sweats...Bellies out past the toes and discourteous attitudes become acceptable as "Trucker"?

I could go on but we all have seen these and more examples of what this industry has become....Just go to the T/A or Love's....It's effing sick.

In the Governments eyes E-logs has nothing to do with 'safety'. It's all about their plan to add another tax to tax trucks per every mile driven. Just wait and see how fast they do this after E-Logs are mandatory.Their next step after passing mandatory E-Logs is a big propaganda campaign on how broke the highway 'Trust' fund is and how all our highways are crumbling..... No wait, they've already started that campaign !!!

Although I like e-logs from the liability side of it, I agree on your prognosis of what is down the pike, essentially every road in every state will become an income generator, nice, quick easy way to make everything a toll road without the expense of toll booths, tickets, manpower, we are providing all of that.

It already is. Why do you think companies and owners have to keep track of mileage driven in a state?

If you have satellite communications in your truck it's entirely likely that there is already a GPS record to confirm your location regardless if your company is using it. So while you have some freedoms and may take some liberties with your log book a recreation of what you done is already possible. Technology is not the worst thing to happen to the industry, for the most part it makes it better. How people use technology for their own purposes is what is hurting the industry.

e-logs have NOTHING to do with all that you said above, they are about complying with the law as written... a driver is to obey the law as written, with e-logs, or with paper logs... e-logs just make it easier to catch those who choose to try and disobey the laws...

    Meltom Thanks this.

You got a cell phone? Guess what... that can be tracked. If FMCSA wants to do a compliance audit on you, they'll be looking at the electronic location tags vs your logs and paper trail. Best hope that they match better than +/- 1 hour. With elogs your log is synced to GPS location tags.

Meltom and Working Class Patriot Thank this.

I'm still on Loose Leaf Paper....Been through a few dozen L1's and L2's.....
Nobody has yet to ask for motel receipts or; Fuel receipts or; Anything else...
They look at the logs and say "Ok...Buh Bye...See you next time"....And in Cali....I get a decal for my trouble....:biggrin_25525:
