Unfair? How is it unfair? It's not like the joint, pipe, or bong jumped into his hand and forced him to hit of them. So please stop trying to make him feel better about himself. This is what people need to understand. You #### yup, then you pay the consequences. There's it's no boo hoo ########, stop feeling sorry for yourself, if you truly want to drive do what was suggested. If you want to drive just because you was told there was such a huge shortage, and you are tired of looking, then you might be best of searching elsewhere. Personally, I'd much rather pay the taxes so you're ### stays out of a truck and on welfare. Least then I know you aren't as much of a risk on the road ways with myself, my wife, or kids.
And I highly doubt it was one mistake. I suspect he was a habitual smoker, lost his last job because he popped positive, and someone who he knows drives truck told him to try it out.
Really would like to start truck driving please offer me advice!

I am not confused anymore. Thank you for the response and message man (Chinatown), very helpful.
Only a few people like China town have been helpful so i really appreciate those responses. -
Whatever........
joseph1135 Thanks this. -
The truth is, a whole lot of folks did the same thing you did and there are a bunch of them on this forum. The difference is you got popped on a piss test and they didn't; they quit before they became a driver. The bad thing is it will be on your record now.
Do what Chinatown recommended, but get off the dope and stay off of it. Once you get through SAP try Carolina Freight. They may take you. It may be a long road and I know you need a job, but your past decisions have impacted your future. You can get through it, just have some patients and do the right thing. You may need to get a job elsewhere to get by for now.
Good luck, hope you succeed.Last edited: May 23, 2014
Tonythetruckerdude, Chinatown and Mrzara5oh4 Thank this. -
You must try and understand..that most of us take a really hard look at folks that choose to drive a truck or try to drive a truck with that in their past. In this industry safety is the single most important factor that will keep you and those that you meet alive...no other way to look at it. No apologies it is what it is. You chose to smoke , got caught on a drug screen....now that CHOICE WILL FOLLOW YOU FOR A LONG TIME , AND COULD POTENTIALLY COST YOU A VERY GOOD JOB ..IF SO , THEN YOU'LL HAVE TO LIVE WITH YOUR CHOICE. most OF US ( INCLUDING MYSELF ) DON'T TAKE DRUG /ALCOHOL USE OR ABUSE LIGHTLY....WE MAKE OUR LIVINGS BY OBEYING THE LAW....THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN AT THE FOREFRONT OF YOUR THINKING WHEN YOU CHOSE TRUCKING AS CAREER...Chinatown IS FAR AND ABOVE THE MOST HELPFUL POSTER ON THIS SITE , AND MY HAT IS OFF TO HIM...HE GOES ALOT FURTHER THAN i WOULD FOR A hand with drug use in his past....sorry for the cap's...I"m too lazy to correct them all.

I'm sorry that someone was willing to help you get into this industry when the fact is you really shouldn't be in this industry at all.
Gunner75 Thanks this. -
Some of the quote is missing, so I'm feeling a little misrepresented. "It really is unfair you have your record tainted forever for one mistake, but this is the system we live in, and we all have to be aware and live within its rules."
I sympathized with him making a mistake or mistakes which effected his life's path permanently but also added that it's his responsibility to be aware of the rules and follow them. I've made a ton of mistakes and learned a ton of lessons along the way. As I said, I'm clean now, and I'm sure I'm not the only on this forum who used drugs in the past and cleaned up. -
If past drug use were an exclusion in the industry you wouldn't have half the drivers there are. And I disagree...I don't believe the majority of drivers are near as judgmental as you regarding one's past...the past is the past. That being said, you speak only for yourself, not a majority or even representation of drivers as you imply with your dim view of what one did in their past. AA and NA is full of success stories...using your judgmental logic, none of them are worthy. Let he who is without sin...Tonythetruckerdude, harlycharly55 and Chinatown Thank this.
