Yeah, if people can't figure out to use their seatbelts by now, I ain't gonna be able to convince them. Might as well try to get'em to talk gooder.
Seat belts....do you always "buckle-up for safety"

I heard this today in one of my podcasts today. It is a bit of non sequitur-esque.

We raised two kids with no seatbelts, or carseats. It was amazing, traffic wasn't as much back then as it is now. It is probably a miracle with all the miles we put on between visiting one grandparent of the other on holidays, that we made it.
But when it became the law to wear them, that changed things. More and more wrecks that were deadly hit the airwaves and the thought that could be us passed through the mind.
I have been in two wrecks, one I was driving, the other my son was driving. In both instances the cars cut across in front of our car, their cars were totaled. We would have hit the windshields in both I am afraid. Forgot about the one I totaled in 74 when I hit a tree, we were graced that night, don't remember if we had seatbelts on or not then, I think we did, but it did not have the shoulder restraints, hubby's head hit the windshield.
After seeing wrecks on the highway of people who were dead, I wonder if they had even thought of taking the minute or two to buckle up, or just pooh pood it as not necessary. Like Roadmedic said, it isn't nice having dead people to tend too. One wreck in WI, the rescuers spent time trying to make sure there weren't any children or other passengers tossed out of the car, they weren't sure how many there were, and it was a cold night.
Getting in a vehicle now is second nature to go ahead and buckle up, having shoulder restraint bruises is better than having head on dash. -
