I need to hire 2 dump truck drivers for full-time work in Los Angeles, any pointers on where I can find good reliable drivers? What dollar amount hourly would you consider fair for an experienced driver? Thanks.

What kind of dump truck? Good drivers are hard to find. It's a "company truck" is the mind set.

Saddletramp, Double bottom dump truck. Also, any suggestions on pay incentives or bonus structures that would motivate a driver to keep the truck in good condition? Thanks.

Down here in South Florida if you can fog a mirror you can get a job driving a dump truck. It seems they hand out CDL's quicker then green cards.

Hiring drivers is TOUGH ! Been there, done that. Your interview is critical; as I have learned, the hard way I might add. Check references as though it is life threatening, because it is. Make a check list for the interview. I look for personal appearance, grooming, stature, basic intellect, ability to answer my questions properly and a professional manner. This IS business after all. When the interview process is complete and, so far - so good, have the applicant perform an equipment inspection for you. An applicant that can't satisfy these requirements won't be a good fit for my company. Nothing personal ---- Business.

Another thing; I would rather the equipment sit and go broke because of my decision than to employ an unprofessional driver that causes my demise. I have learned that waiting on the "right" applicant can be tiresome, but profitable. I should just shut up now! I have so many feelings about this that I could go on endlessly and bore everyone to tears!

David_abl and full speed Thank this.
