I have a spotless background, hazmat/tanker and doubles triples endorsements, no drug issues, no felonies, no dui/accidents, what I have going on is I live in a tourist town, I've had 6/7 jobs in the last 3 years, I've had 2 different trucking companies I worked for, 4 months for the first one and almost 6 months for the last one, I had serious medical/family issues that have since been resolved and am working at getting back into the industry; I just came off the road in March, I have 5/6 months of driving with my last company in that time, thru all the nasty north/east winter weather with no accidents and only one load that was delayed because the main highway thru Indiana was shut down, but somehow my application has been rejected from 2 companies so far, Boyd bros had approved everything and was supposed to send me a confirmation email upon calling them back 2 hours later I was informed they could no longer offer me employment, Melton did the same thing approved everything sent the app for final review and was rejected with no reason offered from either company, At this point I'm out of work and out of option and worried this will keep happening what can I do/say to show these companies I'm not hopping jobs???
Need advice on getting hired......Experienced advice please

7 jobs in 3 yrs sounds an awful lot like job hopping.
-
You our said you live in a tourist town but you didn't say where !!
why are worried about 2 big flatbed companies turning you down
theres 50,000 other trucking jobs out there.
If you really need to work call some dry van otr companies,
you'll be trucking in a week. -
Seasonal positions end here in January, its Branson Missouri, I'm fairly certain that applying with dry van will have better success just concerned with the way in which these 2 companies responded to my applications. I have since put in several apps at different companies looking at local options in springfield at this point, mainly prime, cti and trailiner if they'll take me back lol.

The only advice I got to give is this: Look local. My Dad god rest his soul hopped from job to job more than he changed underwear. I found an old folder of his W-2's in the dresser drawer one day and he had worked for 5 companies in a year. Boyd Brothers, American Transport, Whiteline, ect...ect...But by the good lords grace he ALWAYS found something local...
Edit: Just saw that you wanted Exp. advice first and foremost and I'm the last guy with exp.! Sorry bud, but that's my .002 anyhow.. -
As someone who hires drivers I am going to explain why I wouldn't hire you based on the info you posted.
In the last year you have had two driving jobs lasting less than six months and have been unemployed for the last two. On top of that you have a spotty history before getting your CDL. My biggest concern would be that you would have another "issue" and have to quit within a few months of hiring you. On top of that you have less than a year of experience so I couldn't hire you anyway. Just because of that.
I am sure someone will hire you. But those are the reasons that some won't and there is nothing you can do about that. Good luck to you I really do hope you are able to find something.gpsman Thanks this. -
Try Averitt Express, They have terminals in Mo. They also have trainer programs and refresher programs. Good people. They also have local, dedicated and OTR and you are usually home every weekend.

Here's some second chance companies that might hire you. If one does, be hardheaded and stay 12 months or you're doomed in the future. You might get a couple of job offers from this list. Do the online applications before any phone calls.
Paschall Truck Lines
Western Express
Ard Trucking Company
Big-M Transportation

And chinatown dips into the ten gallon cowboy hat and out come a list of company names. Lol

Try all of the one's that Chinatown posted up. In your area there should be lots of local jobs available too. Hit the pavement spend some time / gas/ and shoe leather and go talk to some folks. IMHO , that is the best way....sure you can flood the airways with multiple app's to multiple companies...but there's nothing like going in , and asking to speak to the person in charge , and just asking for a job. They may just show the door , or they may just be surprised enough to say , this hand may be worth a look-see....at least he came into the office......Never know til you try. Give the local beverage/beer companies a try...you stated that you have the haz/mat and tanker endorsements....put them to work and go see the local gas / fuel hauling companies..try and see if the local grocery store chain needs drivers....all kinds of choices , but like I said....Go see these folks......don't just depend on the internet or the phone , go look them in the eye....if your record is as good as you say...you'll have a job soon.....
Chinatown Thanks this.
