I run with a 1 year old "gamer class" laptop (Windows 7) I use for video/photo editing and management and it will run in suspend mode for a week or more and barely run down the battery level. Comes up to a useable state and reconnects to wifi in about 8 seconds after raising the lid and will rarely shut it off or reboot it. But even if I do, it will come up to log on screen in maybe 20 seconds. It's custom built 17 inch with an i7 and NVidia GTX670mx.
I've found Firefox browser to be faster and more efficient then Internet Explorer if that's what you're using. But you have to keep them "clean" and remove ALL the unnecessary garbage you don't use. Or scrub the disk and reload the OS with a minimal install (just the basic OS) then don't ever load any software you're not sure you're going to use regularly. Don't like something recently installed? remove it immediately.Richter Thanks this. -

Service packs. Man I don't miss Windows and all the headaches that came with it. Been an Apple guy since 2007 and never once regretted it.
