Well I've decided on CRST. The team driving won't bother me so much since it'll give me a chance to learn the ropes at a relatively uniform pace. I called my recruiter earlier today and scheduled it for the beginning of August. So that brings me to this: Any of you guys have any exp. with CRST and their student training program? Pluses? Minuses?

You would have been much better off going to US Xpress to team.

You made a BIG mistake. CRST has a bad reputation and pays less.

Are they helping you get your CDL ?

If you can still go to another carrier, look into it. You have better options than CRST.

Ouch. I appreciate that driver, I need to start using that big old 'Search' bar up there...

Bingo. It was honestly either CRST, or Swift at this point. Being broke complicates the process.

Nothing is signed or set in stone yet...I may have to just "lose" my phone if the recruiter is insistent on me not changing my mind. I don't mind the whole "Slave for a year" bit. It can't be any worse than the military, and everyone has to pay their dues. And this recruiter doesn't lie to me...as badly as they could.

Small world! When did you end up breaking out? It's a beautiful little town. Lots of opportunity for a fresh driver.

Thanks for the quick and honest replies. THIS is why I posted my decision here first and foremost, because I still don't know what the #### I'm doing.

Crest will teach you just enough to get your on the road, their trainers mostly have less then a year themselves and. Can't teach what they really don't know, then once you finish your contract your released for any little thing they can find, including things while still learning ( they keep good records) then sadly they report to DAC what lies they can to protect themselves and make things as hard as possible fr you to find decent work, a friend of mind was fired two days after his contract for a log book violation he got in his first month, which wasn't his fault cause he was taught wrong. Crst four main locations, wear they hire up to thirty guys a week, crst doesn't have that many rigs, yes I said nearly thirty guys a week, do the math.

Don't they pay like $.18/mile for team? I'd rather go to Swift and run solo.
