I talked to them today and they couldn't give me an exact answer for how long i would have to wait until i became a full time employee. She told me most guys wait a month, others 2 months. I'm think why such a short period? Is there a such big turnover rate? or is it that they move up? I know that the snow maintenance is the only way to get in. She told me since i have all my endorsements, I wont have a problem moving up? Whatever that means?

slavic did you ever get hired by the county? I too work for a county road department here in NJ. my hourly rate is 2 dollars an hour lower than what you said you would start at. I've been there about 17 months now and still have not been given a truck driver title so I still get laborer pay. I do have a class A CDL and out of title pay in the winter because i drive a wing plow truck. the benefits are great and plenty of time off. I may be looking for another line of work if the pay doesnt get better. certainly not high paying jobs but great benefits.
