How much does a share of MRTN cost? What is the 52-week price range? What is the YTD return so far? How much is a large pizza and a twelve-pack cost?

Speaking of 52 weeks; based on what a Marten driver earns in 52 weeks (average earnings = $650.00 per week X 52 weeks = $33,800, yep, that's a whopping $33,800 per year) then a share of MRTN may as well cost a million bucks.
No big surprise that employees can't even afford to buy stock in the companies that they work for.Last edited: May 25, 2014

$650 week would be great ... if I was home 3 nights a week. Too many companies have pay scales that would net a fairly decent paycheck if they could keep the driver's wheels turning 8+ hours/day all week, but they can't. They're too invested in the high-dollar, short-haul freight. The company is doing great. More revenue for less costs is a great business accomplishment in any book. Good for the driver and their family? Not so much.

me
just sold boeing. might buy it again
you can open a scottrade account with 500$. 7$ ciommission on each trade. no hidden fee or other charge in the last ten years.
i buy stocks that are low price compared to their 52 week high and put a trailing stop on them. pe is also a factor.

No. I must have been driving the tablet sleepy.
But it's cool you've made some $ with that strategy.
I've got some old 401 $, self directed.
I recently made a few $ off Cat.
Back in the late 90's, the company I was delivering dedicated to went on strike.
I got bored sitting at the house. Sent some $ to ameritrade. Made a little $ trading jbht because I figured I had previously worked for them 7 years and could read there press releases and figure out what the truth was.
I'm gonna have a serious look at your strategy. Because I'm getting kinda old & need to "make more $ trading stock than I do trucking", or I'm gonna starve when I'm alot older.
Good luck & drive well. -

Really that is the key to why drivers are treated like crap. I am surprised so few get it. Since, the office folks are evaluated on the return per a mile without consideration of overhead of truck or driver they try to maximize it by holding out for the well paying short runs. A drivers time waiting or working is of no consequence to the planners. They will wait you out as they search for a run that makes there numbers look good. There is no consideration for the other work that the load will take because they do not pay a driver for that work! Your time and work is free! And, if the miles per a truck look low they can and do simply blame the driver. There is no respect for the driver anyway.
If your time and work had a price tag on it, all this crap would stop. Turnover would reduce, freight would move, and cheep freight would disappear.scottied67 Thanks this. -
